A top political nemesis of President Vladimir Putin was shot and killed early Saturday in central Moscow, Russian police said, one day before an opposition rally was scheduled to take place.
Boris Nemtsov, 55, a former deputy prime minister, was shot four times from a passing car as he was walking on a bridge just outside the Kremlin. Interior Ministry spokeswoman Yelena Alexeyeva told reporters on the scene that Nemtsov was walking with a female acquaintance, a Ukrainian citizen, when a vehicle drove up and unidentified assailants shot him dead. The woman wasn't hurt.

Gangland.
Workplace violence.
You’re right. They have a gangster statesman in charge of their nation unrestrained by law, religion, or anything but his own greed.
“Youre right. They have a gangster statesman in charge of their nation unrestrained by law, religion, or anything but his own greed.”
And Putin ain’t much better.
“... we call upon the Russian government to conduct a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of his murder and ensure that those responsible for this vicious killing are brought to justice.”
Heck, this man is waisting his talent in the White House. With such a great sense of humor he should be a comedian or so.
That word “Russian” and some others are written into a typed document right? Fill-in-the-blank diplomacy
The only problem I have with that type of statement is that if you really think Obama is killing his opponents in our streets you’d at least be able to name one. Principled and committed opposition to Obama, in my opinion, is not helped by false equivalency to Putin. Both can and should be opposed. Obama presents a more urgent problem for us, but I do not believe Obama is jailing and murdering his opponents. I do believe Obama is, as he himself states, a threat to our way of life.
It certainly seems to smell of thug action.
I detest a bully... Putin is a bully.
Just look at the dangerous leadership that Russia and the USA currently have...Oi Vey.
“A top political nemesis of President Vladimir Putin was shot and killed early Saturday in central Moscow, Russian police said, one day before an opposition rally was scheduled to take place.”
Well, this just can’t be! I distinctly remember a rather enthusiastic member of the then-vocal FR Putin Fan Club berating me a couple of years ago because “guys like me will never understand that it’s never guys like Putin who do the bad stuff, it’s always leftists and Putin clearly can’t be a leftist, or a thug, or corrupt because he stood up against the homos.” Or something like that.
BTW, I’ve noticed the Putin fanboys are awfully quiet these days...
Moscowincide.
Putin on the Ritz.
Remember the youtube video guy that he accused of causing the Benghazi attack and what they did to him? Is the poor guy out of jail yet?
Or sicking the IRS dogs after conservative groups, reporters, and anybody else that dares cross him...
As for being unrestrained by law... how many examples would you like?
All these facts seem to fit your description nicely...
We have a gangster statesman in charge of our nation unrestrained by law, religion, or anything but his own greed.
I agree with you that those are abuses of power. I do not agree with you that they’re murder of political opponents, which to me goes further than Obama has gone so far. I expect we’ll have to agree to disagree at best.
I agree. For supporters of liberty, we’ve got terrible leaders in Russia and the USA. Both men want to enhance the state’s power all for the benefit of themselves. Neither has a just cause.
I know that Putin’s paid internet trolls will immediately start their crybaby routine, but the truth is obvious:
The mask has come off. Russia is fascist, plain and simple. The difference between brownshirts killing those who dare to speak out on the streets of Berlin and Moscow is 80 years. Otherwise there is no difference.
Russofascism is the enemy and it must be ended.
I agree. Putin was a career communist KGB Colonel, and like Milosevic in Serbia, when communism ended he needed a new path to power. He chose ultra nationalism, theocracy, revanchism, chauvinism, and cronyism. He latched onto the gangsters promising protection and profits as long as they stayed out of his way. It’s worked for him so far. He’s president for life. He threats his neighbors, all of them far weaker and no threat to Russia, for the sole purpose of maintaining himself in the public’s mind as the great savior of Russia. He spent more on the Sochi Olympics than all previous Olympics combined to glorify Russia (like Hitler did) and himself, and as a way to dole out public funds to his fellow gangsters. He has aligned Russia with Iran, North Korea, and Assad, another gangster. Yet, we have folks that fawn over Putin like creepy catamites in a county jail.
To avoid any misunderstandings:
I’m not saying “Kill them all”.
In fact I do weep with those Russians who just want to live their lifes freely and with basic human dignity.
So when I say, it must be ended, preferably by Russia’s own Maidan protest movement that will sweep away the corrupt fascist filth.
But ended it must be. Otherwise the 2010s and 20s will be the 1930s / 40s all over again and we all know the rest of that story.
Now, why does that sound so familiar?
Noncritical thinking? Sloppy comparisons? Moral equivalence?
