Israel's first two F-35s will arrive by the end of 2016, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by 2021, the ministry said.
The Pentagon plans to spend nearly $400 billion to develop and build 2,457 of the radar-evading aircraft over the next two decades for the U.S. military and its allies

I hope the Israelis are able to take this piece of junk and turn it into something worthy of their time to fly and fight with.
White House will take their money and refuse to deliver. Can’t imagine why Israel would buy anything from us.
They can get the bugs out of it...............
Delivery isn't due to start until just about the time Obama leaves office. And Israel will probably be buying them with our money anyway.
Were I Israel, I’d be buying A-10s.
They’re gonna need’em.
>>Were I Israel, Id be buying A-10s.<<
I second that.
There is billboard up on I70 in Kansas City that alleges US gives Israel 8M a day and suggests it should be stopped. There is another billboard on 71 Highway about Muhammed and do you want to know more that I flip the bird at routinely.
Israel and a bunch of other countries have been committed to the F-35 project for more than a couple years.
This might be related to new Sec.of Def. Ashton Carter. He’s been the chief weapons buyer for the Pentagon. F-35s have a cost overrun problem and he’s probably trying to make the embarrassing balance sheet look better.
“I hope the Israelis are able to take this piece of junk and turn it into something worthy of their time to fly and fight with.”
They will do with the F35 what they do with every aircraft they purchase from other countries. They will modify it to suit their style of warfare.
“Were I Israel, Id be buying A-10s.”
Buy all of them.
I’m having a hard time believing Israel would actually sign a deal for F-35’s from the U.S. when they can get exponentially better fighter aircraft from the U.K. or even India. I’m going to watch for a response from the Israeli government on this, to the tune of “Do what?”
Considering most of the money Israel receives from the USA is predicated on them buying our weaponry, buying from another country would be real bad form...
Only Obama would do something like that...
I believe the official Israeli explanation is that the A10 is too specialized. It’s not needed in desert warfare, and doesn’t linger enough to pick off individuals or small groups in hills/mountains.
They’re called ‘F16s’ and ‘Apaches’.
UK is partnering with the US on the F-35 — they have no fifth generation fighter in the works.
India is developing theirs in a side-by-side development project with Russia and is five years behind the US and their allies for deployment.
This F-35 worries me ,should it be called F-86 ?
