At a time when more and more people are becoming wary of generically-modified foods in their diet, the United Kingdom is poised to begin creating genetically-modified children with the genetic material of three people, two women and one man; a genetic combination that could not occur naturally. And the way the UK goes, the United States may soon follow.
The average person may feel totally overwhelmed by the science and helpless to do anything about it. Unfortunately, we cannot stick our heads in the sand and do nothing. If we ignore this problem it will not go away. If we stay silent we will live in an insane world where people won’t eat genetically-modified food, but will turn a blind eye to genetically altering the next generation.
There are things you can do:
1. Educate yourself. Learn about the three-parent embryo technique and how it is a germ-line genetic engineering technique similar to cloning.
2. Share news stories about the creation of three-parent embryos in your social media. Tell people that there is more to consider than just what is on the surface. This is the genetic-engineering of human beings that will affect generations. Also, it is not just being proposed to help mitochondrial disease, a very serious, sometimes fatal, condition, but it has also already been proposed as a treatment for infertility. If your friends are wary of eating GMO foods, they should find this terrifying.
3. Tell people that this technique has not been proven to be safe in animals or humans. There are excellent statements by scientists who are concerned about the safety of the technique here, here and here that you can share. These scientists are rightly concerned that the invasive nature of the procedure will do more harm than good. Get people thinking about what happens when something goes wrong. Will abortion be the “back-up” plan for any baby not developing normally?
4. Sign this petition to the UK House of Lords, the next stop on the approval route, urging them to reject any germ-line genetic modification of human embryos. I bet if this was the introduction of a new genetically-modified food to the grocery shelves it would easily have hundreds of thousands of signatures. Challenge yourself and your friends to show the same concern for the creation of GMO kids.
Ping!
What could possibly go wrong?
Trust me this is going to come bsck to kick them in the a$$. We know damn well what their real goal is. To create a human being with both sets of genitalia so the LGBT’ers dont have to adopt and create more freaks like themselves. Disgusting...
God Forbid!
Genetically modified children are fine as long as some of them are trained to be the assassins we need to cull the GMC’s that are too aggressive.
Anything to compete with Artificial intelligence.
2. Keep Darks and Pat out of the biology lab.
Nothing at all. Science assures us.

This is an abomination. How long can we mock God?
It doesn’t even really serve a purpose, it’s not gene therapy to fix a potentially incapacitating genetic illness, it’s simply people wanting to play Frankenstein.
That’s when God steps in and says, “Ok, everybody, out of the pool.”
“as in the days of Noah”—possibly a time of deformed humans (an attempt to blur the image of God in mankind).
But chameleon like chromatophores would be cool!
Hey, maybe we’ll get that blond hair, blue eyed master race after all! /s
“This is an abomination. How long can we mock God?”
Don’t worry. Seriously. We live in a small speck of the universe that is smaller, in a relative sense, than a grain of sand as compared to all the sand in all of the places that we can see with the most powerful telescopes we have. We are, in the context of God, pathetic. The totality of our knowledge is, pathetic. All of the money we’ve spent, and all of the hours, days, years, decades, centuries that we’ve been doing research has netted us a few more years of life in our finite lifetimes. We may progress from here, in fact, it would be pathetic if we didn’t progress from here, but to worry about us ‘mocking God’ is to give us more credit than we’ll deserve 10,000 years from now, at least.
That is a very cool graphic.
It doesn’t reflect the specific topic here wherein, as the author sates, the procedure is similar to cloning.
The graphic more reflects gene therapy where a disease causing mutated gene is corrected at the DNA level to cure a disease.
That’s quite different and does not necessarily bring up ethical issues.
"Ze fuhrer, he told us about you. That one day you vould arrive...Overman...you haf come at last..."
"Yes. You can go now..."
“Genetically modified children”
How about fourteen plus centuries of Muslim inbreeding?
“Tell people that this technique has not been proven to be safe in animals or humans.”
That’s really the key.
This sort of manipulation leads to a lot of reproductive failures, I.e. Spontaneous abortion due to abnormal fetal development.
And the possibility of developmental problems in those who go full term and are born is very high.
My guess is this procedure would lead to more abortions in that the doctors would know well to look at possible developmental issues and check for problems via amniocentesis or other methods to abort any of these three way conceived babies if they see a problem.
And ultimately, this is experimenting on human beings.
I’m willing to bet that a lot people who adamantly oppose generically-modified foods find this to be quite acceptable.
IMO, as a completely non religious individual, this is an abomination. With horrendous consequences down the line.
But they are going to do it.
Amen.
