On the surface, the two candidates are as different as can be. Netanyahu is warring with President Obama. Herzog seems to want to be President Obama: The Labor Party leader is campaigning on an Israeli version of hope and change.
Herzogs billboards promise Israeli parents an extra teacher in each kindergarten classroom. Netanyahu warns about the people who want to kill us. He is fixated on the Iranian mullahs, who he says pose an existential threat to the Jewish state and places beyond.
Netanyahu is prepared to risk the ire of the White House and Democrats to make his case before a joint session of Congress on March 3. He believes that any treaty that allows Iran to hover at the threshold of nuclear breakout is a bad deal.
Herzog, on the other hand, says all Netanyahu has done is anger Israels closest ally. He said Netanyahus planned trip to Washington, without the invitation of the president, is a mistake that damages bipartisan support for Israel, which receives unwavering American backing and $3 billion in annual aid, including advanced weaponry.
On Iran, I trust Obama to get a good deal, Herzog has said.
I agree that a nuclear Iran is extremely dangerous, and I believe that it must be prevented, Herzog said in an interview. No Israeli leader will accept a nuclear Iran. All options for me are still on the table, including Israeli military strikes.
But rather than work against Obama or confront Secretary of State John F. Kerry and congressional Democrats, I would rather hold intimate talks and renew the trust that is necessary between the United States and Israel, Herzog said.
He declined to call Iran an existential threat.
It is a big threat, Herzog said. Thats enough.

And he bases this on what?
New definition of “resourceful” — anyone who agrees with Obama on anything.
All leftists are leftists first. Period.
” I trust Obama to get a good deal, Herzog has said.”
Presumably this person has had six years to see how Obama handles foreign policy in general, let alone Iran. If Isreali’s elect anyone this naive or divorced from reality (or both), I’m sorry to say they deserve what they’ll get (and it won’t be pretty).
WaPo disinformation again.
Netanyahu and Herzog are very much alike. American-educated from prominent families, good military background, etc.
Fools.!
I predict a Bibi landslide.
so Israel has its share (and then some!) of Quislings all too eager to sell her out for a few sheckels or dineros
not news, WashPost.
so why publish it now?
oh yeah, to try to influence the Isreali elections currently in progress....
by associating a positive=sounding word (”resourceful”) with a Quisling candidate
good one, slimeballs
Despite recent polls that show a tight race between Likud and Labor, the position that Herzog and other leftist candidates have taken to rush to the aid of Obama makes me think Likud will win a decisive victory next month.
God help Israel if the majority shares the views of Herzog and Obama.
ELECTION BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY OBOZO !
Silly guy ... TRIX are for kids !
OBOZO's only foreign policy success has been to arm the Syrian rebels at Banghazi !
Our Enemies don't fear us ,
and our FRIENDS DON'T TRUST US !!
and Obozo considers that a success ?
Only in Russia !.. when Obozo has more flexibility !
I know several Isrealis and ALL of them will vote for Bibi......obola is HATED by them!!!
Yikes! A vote for him is a vote for national suicide.
Netanyahu’s “reign”
The good old WaPo fishwrap/
Herzog is NUTS!!
