Eddie Ray Routh would say whatever it took to avoid going to jail, a medical expert testified Friday.[snip] When Routh was arrested on Feb. 2, 2013, he told officers that he had been feeling paranoid and schizophrenic all day. In that moment, Routh revealed that he was trying to avoid going to jail by claiming he was crazy, said Dr. Michael Arambula, a forensic psychiatrist.
He was showing his hand already. In other words, he was trying to get out of what he had done, Arambula testified Friday. [snip] He was intoxicated at the time of the offense. Any time intoxication is present, the game is over for the insanity defense [snip] On the day of the slayings, Routh was likely suffering from marijuana-induced psychosis, said Randall Price, a forensic psychologist. [snip] He did know what he was doing was wrong, and he did it anyway, Price said.

White convert to Islam —took out the Bad American Killer of Muslims.
Honky Jihad.
He looks like every dude in a jacked up pickup that cuts me off on the highways around Tyler.
That is probably true. I worked with nut cases for 11 years. I found out that the guys who said they were emotionally ill, usually were not. The ones who would NOT admit it, usually were.
Yep. Best friend is a psych nurse. Says the same thing.
So true. Some of these Yahoos, rather than cutting us off on the highways, are joining up with ISIS to cut off heads.
Besides that, it was a pre-meditated murder. His strange actions sold him out
with the "watch my 6" text from Kyle.
Personally I don't think TDC guards are going to let him live long.
There's a special "house" waiting for him.
Exactly. I had a psych professor who actually worked in a mental hospital tell us the story about the catatonic patients. These patients were on the floor, in the fetal position, with their thumb in their mouth. My prof would go over to them and give them a sharp kick to check their reaction. They would kick him back! My prof explained that, no matter how mentally impaired a human being is, they never lose their sense of right and wrong. They will continue to have a moral code. The mental illness defense is something made up by trial lawyers to make a buck.
Yes indeed. I had one idiot one time, who had a habit of exposing himself to female staff members. He tried to tell the psych doctors, that his lawyer said it was a disease, so it was excusable. They weren't buying it. As messed up as he was, he knew what he was doing. They just told him the lawyers always say stupid things, to try to drum up business for themselves.
I used to live in Tyler. Graduated from Lindale High School in.....oh, never mind when. I still have family in Tyler and Lindale.
Eddie Ray Routh’s alter ego?
On the day of the slayings, Routh was likely suffering from marijuana-induced psychosis
wait what?? I thought marijuana helped those with psychosis!!
That wouldn't happen if you weren't driving that pink Volvo...
:-)

Part of me hopes those guards will do their worst. The other part is more ... patient, believing that God that Chris Kyle believed in will deliver justice in His way and time.
I haven’t seen the movie, but I read the book, and I feel that (Mr? I don’t remember his title. It was probably classified. ;) ) Kyle knew what he was doing was for the greater good, but it did hurt him, on a soul level, to kill people. In that sense, he sacrificed himself to keep people safe.
Few people have that kind of courage. God bless him.
And may his assassin meet the reward he deserves.
You drive a pink Volvo in Tyler Texas? Are you insane? lol
