F.B.I. Chief Not Invited to Meeting on Countering Violent Extremism
New York Times ^ | FEB. 19, 2015 | MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT

Posted on 02/20/2015 1:48:00 PM PST by LeoWindhorse

The White House did not invite the most senior American official charged with preventing terrorist attacks — the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey — to the three-day conference this week on countering violent extremism in the United States and abroad because the administration did not want the event too focused on law enforcement issues, according to senior American officials.

But Mr. Comey’s Russian counterpart — Aleksandr V. Bortnikov, the director of the Russian Federal Security Service, the post-Soviet K.G.B. — was at the meeting, even though international human rights groups have repeatedly accused the Russian security service of unjustly detaining and spying on Russians and others.

You can’t make his idiocy up. I’m beginning to believe the most radical conspiracy theories, because the Administration could not possibly be this abysmally stupid, not to mention ignorant.

This after Stinky and his gang have told us ad nauseum that terror attacks here in America ARE a law enforcement matter.

Interesting that Comey didn't attend. I wonder if Brennan did?

AUGUST 2016 : (BRENNAN SPEAKS ON THE PHONE WITH ALEXANDER BORTNIKOV, HEAD OF RUSSIA'S INTERNAL SECURITY SERVICE ) John Brennan: President Trump’s Claims of No Collusion Are Hogwash New York Times ^ | 16 August 2018 | John Butthole [BRENNAN] Posted on ‎8‎/‎16‎/‎2018‎ ‎2‎:‎20‎:‎19‎ ‎PM by Magnatron When Alexander Bortnikov, the head of Russia’s internal security service, told me during an early August 2016 phone call that Russia wasn’t interfering in our presidential election, I knew he was lying. Over the previous several years I had grown weary of Mr. Bortnikov’s denials of Russia’s perfidy — about its mistreatment of American diplomats and citizens in Moscow, its repeated failure to adhere to cease-fire agreements in Syria and its paramilitary intervention in eastern Ukraine, to name just a few issues. When I warned Mr. Bortnikov that Russian interference in our election was intolerable and would roil United States-Russia relations for many years, he denied Russian involvement in any election, in America or elsewhere, with a feigned sincerity that I had heard many times before. President Vladimir Putin of Russia reiterated those denials numerous times over the past two years, often to Donald Trump’s seeming approval. Russian denials are, in a word, hogwash. Since when do NY Times reporters downplay the importance of an event they report on- especially one which featured Obama giving a speech to foreign security officials?

Another interesting tidbit probably relating to this "unimportant" countering violent extremism meeting in Feb 2015 that Comey did not attend but at which Obama made a speech ...

FEBRUARY 2015 : () The White House has finally divulged the names of American Muslim leaders who met with President Obama this week, including Imam Mohamed Magid, who has advised the administration on formulating responses to incidents that Islamists consider offensive. After stonewalling journalists for two days about the names of the participants at the meeting Wednesday, the White House quietly attached the list of attendees to the end of its daily press briefing transcript Thursday evening. The guest list identified Imam Magid as a representative of the Adams Center, a large mosque in Sterling, Virginia. He has also served as president of the Islamic Society of North America, according to the group’s website. Imam Magid, a native of Sudan, has served on the Department of Homeland Security’s Countering Violent Extremism Working Group and has worked as an adviser to the White House National Security Council to formulate U.S. responses to appeal to moderate Muslims in the battle against Islamist extremists.
It was Mr. Obama’s first meeting with American Muslim leaders at the White House, coming at a time of renewed discussion about the threat of radicalization of Muslims in the West. The hourlong talk focused on civil rights, anti-Muslim bias, and extremism, according to participants.
