Days after a federal judge issued an injunction against President Barack Obamas executive amnesty, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) urged Senate Republicans to abandon their defunding efforts and pass a clean Homeland Security funding bill.
We have to fund Homeland Security, Rubio reportedly said on Wednesday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. We cant let Homeland Security shut down.
He reportedly noted that Obama has threatened to veto any bill that would reverse his executive actions on immigration, including the measure to pay for Homeland Security and the Senate doesnt have enough votes to pass the bill that ties the two issues together, according to the outlet.
Rubio, who is weighing a potential presidential run, made his remarks in Las Vegas during his book tour.
The House passed a Homeland Security spending bill that also prohibits the federal government from funding Obamas executive amnesty. Senate Democrats have filibustered the bill three times and will reportedly not back down next week before the Feb. 27 deadline to fund the agency.

They’ve got to hold their ground. If they fund it, His Arrogance will promptly start the program and announce to Congress to sue him if they don’t like it. Remember the patently illegal Labor Relations Board appointments?
“We have to fund Homeland Security, Rubio reportedly said on Wednesday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. We cant let Homeland Security shut down.”
This guy either doesn’t have the gray matter to understand what’s going on or doesn’t have the spine to fight. Either one is a deal killer.
Rubio, you’re mud.
F U Rubio.
And I remember a time when so many here on FR loved this little amnesty twit...
Now they’re all in love with Scott Walker, who has the same policy preferences WRT illegal aliens.
He's no Ted Cruz, that's for sure.
What I got from both statements is that Rubio may be falling for beltway hype.
Rubio knows exactly what he is doing. He’s selling us conservatives down the river by posing as a “moderate” in the MSM. It’s all part of the MSM/GOPe/Dem tag team on conservatives.
“Anyone who thinks Rubio is the Dems tool would be wrong - he is a way bigger tool than that - Rubio is another Obama sounding good, saying what the people want to hear, and then the Big Bait & Switch rolls out time after time:”
And like Obama, he has been “grooming himself” and bluffing about who he really is ever since he entered politics. He’s simply another shill for “his people,” and not an American.
This guy was easy to understand from the beginning; that idiot hannity was all over his knob. That is all you need to know.
McConnell needs to get this over with. Pass it through reconciliation since it’s a funding bill and let Chairman Zero veto it.
Thank you for the update.
Said the One Termer Senator from Florida.
Rubio has taken himself firmly out of serious contention for the presidential nomination.
Just in case Rubio has a degree, and can’t think, my college dropout brain says the Dems want DHS shut down, blaming the Pubs, a “major” false flag event will happen on our soil, and it will be Pub linked non-stop into 2016 for the election.
/,
Marco Rubio (R-Illegal Aliens)
“He (Levin) says that is the part Rubio doesn’t seem to understand and he is intimidated knowing that Obama will veto anything he doesn’t like. “
Rubio understands exactly what is going on.
Rubio is just engaged in doubletalk to try to obscure his shilling for amnesty.
And they're also handling the payouts to the illegals to get them housed
in apartments and hotels across America.
I can hardly wait to see those involved sent to prison.
I agree- Rubio is probably the reason why no one on the Repub side demanded a formal vetting of Obama’s birth story like what McCain was put through by the Senate in 2008. Rubio isn’t eligible to run for POTUS, but who cares about that any more?
They can do that with or without DHS, just because of the opposition to the amnesty, which is going ahead anyway. But if the Republicans don’t stand firm on this then the precedent will be established and they will give in all down the line and the electionin 2016 will be something different because with the Republicans offering no opposition the Fiat Presidency will take over totally and there will be nothing useful happening in November 2016.
Rubio is showing some distinctive serpentine characteristics. He was for legalizing the illegals, at least the Spanish speaking ones, then he backed away from that and made statements that sounded like he ha decided firmly against that. Now this. He’s back to where he was. I would not trust him on anything again, he’s a Republican and nothing more.
