There have been more than 47 significant changes made to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act according to the Galen Institute. At least 28 that President Obama has made unilaterally. Congress has passed and the president has signed 17 more. And, the Supreme Court is responsible for two changes.
Now top Democrats want the Obama administration to grant an extension for uninsured taxpayers who are facing Obamacare fines. The AP reported:
The official sign-up season for President Barack Obamas health care law may be over, but leading congressional Democrats say millions of Americans facing new tax penalties deserve a second chance.
Three senior House members told The Associated Press that they plan to strongly urge the administration to grant a special sign-up opportunity for uninsured taxpayers who will be facing fines under the law for the first time this year.
The three are Michigans Sander Levin, the ranking Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee, and Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, and Lloyd Doggett of Texas. All worked to help steer Obamas law through rancorous congressional debates from 2009-2010.
The lawmakers say they are concerned that many of their constituents will find out about the penalties after its already too late for them to sign up for coverage, since open enrollment ended Sunday.
That means they could wind up uninsured for another year, only to owe substantially higher fines in 2016. The fines are collected through the income tax system.

The Rats pissed on us. Now they are telling us it is raining. Repeal it, or live with it till the people come at you with pitchforks.
Bet not many Americans have signed up
If no resistance is offered, this is going to end up just as the ‘rats want it to be:
Conservatives and any political opponents PAY;
Democrats and political supporters CONSUME.
And they had recordctax revenues this year!
Aren’t we lucky we now have a President who can change laws all on his own? /s
He could not get away with all of this if we had an opposition party.
Unless something is changed, there will be at least 20 times more democrats paying a penalty than republicans.
Congress keeps giving him more money, authority and power. It makes no attempt to stop him; in fact, it enables him.
We used to have a Constitution but it is no longer operable. Who needs such a framework when you have a dictator in charge?
It screams illegal.
Thanks for nothing, Justice Roberts .
I wouldn’t “ha-ha” too soon.
I stated their end goal in post 5.
What sense does it make passing something so onerous as Obamacare that people can’t afford & then talking about helping them to pay for it? Makes a lot more sense to just sidestep the whole problem. If that’s what a college education does to your thinking,I’m glad I don’t have one.
LOL. That fits.
