The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cincinnati issued a warning to Christians about the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, ahead of its release over the weekend weekend.
"The story line is presented as a romance; however, the underlying theme is that bondage, dominance, and sadomasochism are normal and pleasurable," Archbishop Dennis Marion Schnurr posted on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati's Facebook page.
The movie tells the story of a sexual relationship between a wealthy businessman and a college student and includes scenes that depict whipping and bondage.
"This movie is in direct contrast to the Christian message of Gods design for self-giving and self-sacrificing love, marriage and sexual intimacy," he continued. "The movie is a direct assault on Christian marriage and on the moral and spiritual strength of Gods people. We need to inform our people about the destructive message of this movie and to highlight the beauty of Gods design for loving relationships between a husband and wife in the bond of marriage."

The Church has taken a stand for marriage, love and the spiritual life.
"Fifty Shades Of Grey" runs counter to it. Christians should take note of it.
Sounds like “Last Tango”.
The usual suspects will cry, “Censorship!” However, the Archbishop’s statement is no different in nature from any other movie review. He’s saying that people shouldn’t see the movie because the content is evil. Almost every other reviewer is saying people shouldn’t see it because it’s a terrible movie.
The Left can endorse torture porn all it wants.
The rest of us are not obligated to follow suit.
Will Womyn Studies in colleges hold watch parties? Wonder if this will drive sorority theme parties?
Where is the outrage from the Feminizes? Guess those old gals are enjoying the movie. since it’s as close to sex as they are likely to get.
That’s very true.
Sex with a perverted rich billionaire is the ultimate feminazi fantasy.
Our St. Bernard wags her tail when my wife and I hug and likes to cuddle with both of us on the couch. If I tied up my wife and started whipping her, I’m sure the Saint would object and try to protect her Mom. I trust my dog’s natural sense of love and pack solidarity much more the life negating message of this movie.
For those wanting torture, stand by for months of Hillarys screeching voice...
There was a time when films were rated by the Legion of Decency. A “C” Condemned movie was off-limits to Catholics, under pain of mortal sin.

It seems like a good review/synopsis for those of us curious about the phenomenon, but with no intention of reading the book or seeing the movie.
He is right. I stand with the Bishop.
And I am not even a Roman Catholic.
He is right. I stand with the Bishop.
And I am not even a Roman Catholic.
I definitely have.
From the reviews that I have seen about the film and the book, they are evil. They have no redeeming qualities to them.
None.
(and I have not seen or read them).
I agree with the Archbishop.
This is just grooming women for what radical Islam has in store for them.
My wife's malamute used to jump up on us and force her way between us. Then she would look around casually, as if she was saying, "what's up?" She was a funny alpha female 8-)
You can't be very old. I remember the libertine '60s, and that would be an improvement. We have become TMZ nation. It's just gross, and I'm no prude.
