This is a story with various reports flying from multiple directions and its hard to get a grasp on exactly whats happening. What we know at the moment is that ISIS is claiming it has seized control of the al-Asad air base in the Ramadi area of Iraq. According to multiple twitter feeds the Iraqi army has lost contact with its people inside the base. From what we can tell the 300 Marines are on location to train Iraqi military. The Pentagon is pushing back on these initial reports about al-Asad. According to the Pentagon ISIS is initiating attacks against the base, but the heaviest fighting is happening approximately 5-10 miles away in al-Baghdadi. - See more at: http://www.libertynews.com/2015/02/breaking-reports-claim-isis-just-captured-al-asad-air-base-where-300-u-s-marines-are-now-trapped/#sthash.jv3OOUUA.dpuf

I see that your article of the Korean War hero is from 2009. There was at least one bayonet charge in the Iraq war as well:

Excerpt:
So he immediately ordered his men to dismount and fix bayonets.
“When the order came to dismount and attack, it was just like what we’ve done dozens of times in training,” said Rushforth to the Sun. “We were pumped up on adrenaline proper angry. It’s only afterwards you think, Jesus, I actually did that.”
The six soldiers charged across open ground, pausing only to throw themselves to the ground to avoid enemy fire, and return a bit of their own. In a few small sprints, they had traversed to the first trench, into which they immediately leapt, coming face to face with the enemy.
The fighting was close quarters and intense.
“Basically, it was short, sharp and furious,” said Wood, who was later awarded the Military Cross for actions that day.
Cleared, they headed to the next, and the next, fighting, which took almost two hours, and the lives of approximately 30 Mahdi army soldiers of Muqtada Al-Sadr.
I don’t believe that is Ambassador Stevens.
Obama is,and has been, exhibiting DELIBERATE DERELICTION OF DUTY for months now. The military needs to arrest him and throw him in jail.
I do believe I did run across this but I was looking for US soldiers fixing bayonets.
Reminds me of the movie "300" based on the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC), where 300 Spartans battle against 300,000 Persian invaders
A travesty -— and worse. We need a Chris Kyle in command AND as POTUS.
“Are the Marines even allowed to put ammo in their rifles?”
Better yet: How much ammo do the Marines have? Can they sustain a firefight for 10 min? 20 min? Any one air dropping more ammo?
Or is the whole thing just made up?
Why would ISIS waste time, men etc in taking the base, other than for the propaganda value, when they can simply bypass them on the way to Baghdad?
These guys have gonads larger than Congress and the White House men combined.
This is a large air base. Getting stuff in and out is really not an issue. They will get the 300 marines out of there before they over run.
Not confident in Obama permitting evacuation, or defense or perimeter.
Amen
I’m with you. I prayed.
Gosh, I don’t trust Obama with this and that is a horrible feeling.
Disturbing... is that a real picture?
The picture is real, but apparently not Stevens.
Without communications, the ROE becomes whatever the default Marine ROE happen to be -- this may be the best thing working in their favor.
5.56mm
My concern is not the Marines, but the failure to provide enough munitions. They would only be overrun if outnumbered, outgunned, and without full mags.
This is where Obama will fail, among others.
Oh - thanks! I didn’t read close enough to see that they were British soldiers.
THE QUESTION IS......WHERE IS THE COUNTER ATTACK TO RETAKE Al-Baghdadi?
