Former Archbishop of Canterbury: Christianity on Verge of Becoming Extinct
Eliott Jager & self

Posted on 02/11/2015 9:01:54 AM PST by pinochet

A couple of years ago, a former archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, warned Christians that the faith is in danger. Here is the article: http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Christianity-Anglican-Extinct-Carey/2013/11/25/id/538425/

According to the article, only 800,000 people are church-goers in Britain. Britain had a total population of 64 million in 2013. This means that only 1.25 percent of the British population are church-going Christians. The future of America seems to be going in Britain's direction.

I wanted to add an update to Lord Carey's observations.

A lot of people think the Third World is the future of Christianity. But Brazil, the largest Latin American country, has become more secular than America. According to one study cited on Wikipedia, only 20 percent of Baptised Catholics in Brazil go to church. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholicism_in_Brazil

Brazil also has a lower fertility rate than the US. Similar trends towards secularism can be seen in Mexico, Chile and other countries.

What about Africa? In South Africa, the Marxist ANC has secularized the country, and same-sex marriage was legalized years ago. Tax-payer funded abortion is widely available, and is done in government hospitals. http://allafrica.com/stories/201402131596.html

South Africa is seen as the trend-setter in Africa, and other nations on the continent may copy them in the future.

The total number of BAPTIZED Christians in the world is very impressive. Former Christians, Bill Maher and Richard Dawkins, are included in the global statistics of people who have had a Christian baptism. But, unfortunately, the number of church-going Christians is too few, and may be smaller than the number of Muslims who attend Mosques regularly.

We need intense prayer to bring about a global Christian revival.

The West will never be able to defeat radical Islam if the majority of Christians are baptized and do not attend church. In Europe, Christian baptism has been reduced to a meaningless act that is comparable to a vaccination. The majority of children are not given instruction in their faith after being baptized. This has to change, or the West will die out.

Christianity will never be defeated. Lazy secularists certainly won’t be the cause...only lazy Christians.

Well... with all due respect, the good Archbishop’s comments are a bit of “projection”, I think; Anglicanism certainly seems destined for extinction, given the way that it’s compromising with and embracing the spirit of the age.

If the Lord allows more time, the future of Christianity may very well be in China.

True. Being a Christian is a lifestyle not a “save” button

Religions may become extinct, but Christianity won’t.

What an idiot. Christ reigns. Leftist Anglicans may turn their back on Him, but true believers will not.

Yes, parts of Africa for sure, but for sheer numbers look to China. Millions are coming to Christ in China and want to claim all of Asia for Him. They mean business. Overall, Christianity thrives best where it costs the most to be one!

Then maybe there's hope for the USA after all, with Christian bakers and florists facing massive fines and jail time for refusing to service same-sex weddings.

Our missionary in Zambia has given his church over to a local pastor and has started another church ... I think it was about 10 years in the making

Britain is committing suicide.

If you genuinely want to understand the TRUE, VIOLENT, DUALISTIC, SCHIZOPHRENIC nature of ISLAM in order to become part of a solution instead of part of the problem that spells doom for Western Civilization (and, NO, that’s not too extreme a statement), you need to spend 40 minutes with Dr. Bill Warner here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjBDDC4wVxk

And this is ESPECIALLY for any antisemites who view the “Jewish Conspiracy” as the primary threat to your existence and are put off because the video was posted by a Jewish group.  Try to think of any nations conquered by violent, bloody Jewish jihad and send me their names.

After watching this presentation, if you STILL believe that Bush was correct when he called islam a “religion of peace” (it’s not a religion and it ain’t peaceful) and Obama was right when he recently declared islam morally equivalent or superior to the Christian Crusades, you are DEFINITELY a BIG part of the problem.

Gang, this is a WAR and it is one we dare not lose!

PLEASE SHARE THIS WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!
