The Ukrainian city of Donetsk experienced a giant explosion last night that left many fearing that Russia was using tactical nukes against them. The explosion shattered windows and even caused a brief mushroom cloud to form in the sky. The nights sky was glowing with orange as the explosion occurred. The entire ordeal was captured on video.
In the video above, you can watch as the explosion occurs late last night. The pitch black sky suddenly is illuminated in an orange glow. The blast was so loud that windows in the area shattered. The Daily Mail notes that some in the area feared that Russian had attacked the area with tactical nuclear weapons as a mushroom cloud lingered in the sky.
Though there is speculation that the blast was a small nuclear weapon, pro-Russian rebels say otherwise. According to reports by the pro-Russian rebels, the huge explosion was caused by an artillery shell hitting a rebel-held chemical plant.

It’s an FAE.
That has all the signatures of a nuke.
You’re 24 hours late with this and already debunked as a nuke.
There was a thread with over 80 posts on this topic. But it didn’t have the pictures posted here. So, good to see it. The other thread seemed doubtful. I myself don’t know.
Ok but Brian Williams dosimeter went wild you must have missed his tweet about it
NOT a nuke.
It is now confirmed to be a Tochka/SS-21 ballistic missile with an HE warhead.
2nd pic is of sunrise, taken from a satellite, a few years ago.
That was my first thought.
Wasn’t it an armory lots of Russians were guarding?
Well, we're waiting........
Don’t trust pics — they’re often stolen from other events. This was a fuel depot hit by an incoming guided missile.
I was wrong. FAE or secondary from a chemical factory.
Still not good.
I was wrong.
Sorry, I meant arms depot -- armory..
I found out about it earlier in the day and just got around to post it. It might not have been a real nuclear weapon but it sure was a spectacle. Did enough damage.
A nuke has a specific isotope profile. Nobody has detected fission products, and if it had been a nuke, people would be all over the isotopes in the air because of UN and USA air monitoring.
Thanks for the note. Yes, the other thread had most saying this was not a nuke. Maybe a video too which I’ve been too lazy to watch. I know it is too bad people don’t use keywords and then, one can find the story later.
Holy toledo ohio!
If that wasn’t a small nuke, then what was it?!??
“the huge explosion was caused by an artillery shell hitting a rebel-held chemical plant.”
Which fits the audio in the first video much better than a nuke.
People are saying a factory blew up from a missile.
Large enough convention explosions like MOABs can cause it as well.
