Part-time Staples workers are furious that they could be fired for working more than 25 hours a week. The company implemented the policy to avoid paying benefits under the Affordable Care Act, reports Sapna Maheshwari at Buzzfeed. The healthcare law mandates that workers with more than 30 hours a week receive healthcare. If Staples doesn´t offer benefits, it could be fined $3,000 in penalties per person. Buzzfeed spoke with several Staples workers who revealed their hours have been drastically cut over the past year. Many reported working as few as 20 hours. The workers started a petition on Change.org asking

That is a pretty big financial pebalty incurred if they go one hour over.

This is the fault of the ill-conceived piece of carp bill that the Democrats passed with zero GOP support - without reading! I don’t blame Staples one bit!
Let’s all work two part time jobs. Great idea. That way we can have two careers and be sure we really get ahead in life. Aint America wonderful.
Staples Story that this policy has been in place doesn’t address directly the question if this is related to Obamacare, it is and they know it.
Companies who try to hide their motivations do everyone a disservice.

But if they say so explicitly then suddenly the FTC is denying Staples' request to merge with Office Depot, the IRS is auditing them from esophagus to rectum and no one in government is buying so much as a single number 2 pencil from them.
If they are in California, they will be kept under 19 hours, as California considers 20 hours “full time” for both healthcare benefits and a higher minimum wage.
They need to petition Obama!
Many of the part time jobs such as this don’t give you a set schedule, which makes finding and keeping a second job difficult.

WTH is wrong with that state? I suspect the medical marijuana they claimed was healing them has affected their brains. It seems that the state does everything thats contrary to good, common sense, logic, or reason. Now I’m mainly talking Southern California, not so much the Northern part.
