The Iranians would have no more prospect of producing a nuclear weapon than Mohammed if they had not already received technical assistance from both Russia and the West. Assistance, which, by the way, they received in exchange for signing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. That they do not take their solemn obligations seriously is in itself a disqualification for accepting their word on new obligations.
All 0bama is bargaining for right now is exactly what Clinton "bargained for" with NoKorea: a promise not to announce they have nuclear weapons during 0's term in office, in exchange for tens of billions of dollars. Then, he can falsely claim [as Clinton did] that this outlaw nation did not "acquire nuclear weapons on my watch."
It's a bad deal. The Senate should press its right to ratify treaties, refuse to fund this deal, and tell Iran to stick it.
The question of who pays for the means is another question. I'd recommend Uragan D2. It's cheaper on a per unit basis.
