Merkel and Hollande on mission to avert 'total war’

Europe's leaders were in last-ditch talks to broker a peace deal in Ukraine on Thursday night, as threats by America to send arms to Kiev raised fears of a direct confrontation between Russia and the West.

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, and François Hollande, the French president, began a two-day visit to Kiev and Moscow in an attempt to get both governments to sign a new ceasefire deal.

The talks, which come amid an escalation in the fighting in eastern Ukraine, were an attempt by European capitals to head off moves by Washington to begin arming Ukrainian forces, who have so far been outgunned by the Kremlin-backed rebels.

Reports that the White House might give direct military assistance to Kiev first emerged last weekend, when US officials hinted that the Pentagon was alarmed at the rapid gains made by the separatists in recent weeks.

On Thursday, the White House confirmed that it was considering a change of policy, with John Kerry, the US secretary of state, saying that President Barack Obama would decide "soon" on whether to provide weapons.

Merkel and Hollande meeting with Putin, behind closed doors, right now.

Russia has made some moves in the last 2-3 days that really has the Euros frightened, like extending the winter exercises of Russia's Mobile Nuclear Missile Forces for a month, and signing a decree ordering all of Russia's 2 million reservists to report for military training in 2015.

Meanwhile, in America, the leading news is "The Sponge Bob Movie"...

Trade Ukraine for Syria. After all, who cares about Assad when the alternative is ISIS?

Does anyone actually believe that France, or even worse, Germany, will actually fight a war in eastern Ukraine?
And its interesting. Germany is somehow a deeply interested party in what happens in Ukraine and acts like a stakeholder.
Its almost like they had something to do with creating the coup. /

And waiting for the breathless exclamations that Russia has a secret plan to invade all of Europe and that they must be stopped in Crimea where they’ve been for over 200 years.

Its like watching a lunatic show between Merkel, Obama/McCain, and Hollande. never thought id see such a disconnected government.

“And we have Chamberlain......................”

No, we have Alfred E. Neuman as President.

Any comparison to a “real” leader like Chamberlin would be too kind.

It won’t end well for Ukraine. At least Bammy isn’t there to drive a hard bargain by throwing in Estonia.

Merkel and Hollande will come back with a paper clenched between them, stating “Peace in Our Time!” Oops! I flashed back to Munich, Sept. 1938...

Western Europe has put itself on a progressive/socialist path of destruction. It is supported by ridiculous central bank money printing, in support of their fantasy of greater statist integration and the common currency. Their elites want to maintain their rigid statist economics, which leads to political cynicism and corruption, which means they tolerate the destruction of their own culture by unchecked immigration for short-term political gains

F’em. They NEED a shock to reform their corrupt system. I do not want Americans dying again because of Europe’s f’ed up political fantasies.

lol

Merkel and Hollande are going to offer “federalization” of eastern Ukraine to a country that denies they are involved in exchange for a promise.

Like the promise of a cease-fire he never intended to keep.

1939 all over again

If war breaks out because of the Ukraine, it will be the grand opportunity for European Muslims to start their religious war against their host country.

Yes, it will become a total war because the European Muslims will draw the support of world Islam.
