With the Senate tied in knots over a House-passed bill that would fund the Department of Homeland Security while simultaneously blocking President Obamas executive actions on immigration, a nearly two-year-old video was released that shows leading GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush explicitly contradicting a key Republican position on providing illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.
First reported by CNN, the video shows Bush at an appearance at an event sponsored by the Hispanic Leadership Network in April 2013. Bush was asked about his position on a Senate immigration reform bill and, specifically, on offering citizenship to people brought to the United States as children -- commonly known as Dreamers after failed legislation called the DREAM Act that would have granted many of them legal residency.
Ive never felt like the sins of the parents should be ascribed to the children, Bush says to the interviewer. If the children always have to pay the price for the adults decisions they make How fair is that? So, for people that have no country to go back to, which are many of the Dreamers, its ridiculous to think there shouldnt be some accelerated path to citizenship. The [immigration reform] bill gets close to that and I think thats great. And I think there is almost universal support for that.
The statement puts Bush squarely in opposition to the efforts of Capitol Hill Republicans. One of the explicit measures that House Republicans attached to the DHS funding bill they passed is a ban on using any appropriated funds implement the presidents Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA, which lifted the threat of deportation from illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children...

So, Jeb loves criminals.
Wonder if his forebearance would extend to those of us who decided to not pay our income tax.
Why did Bush deny water to Terry?
Shut up Jeb. Nobody cares what you think.
Not only deny the citizenship...deport them too.
Yep, there is no Mexico.
Or Honduras.
Or Panama.
Etc, etc.
Sorry jeb but you are full of "it."
.
The idea of electing another Bush is what is ridiculous. Damn RINO.
Jeb’s assertion is without meaning, on any level. Sound bite politics for the stupid.
Kids always suffer for the sins of the parents. If a guy robs a bank, rapes somebody, kills somebody, whatever, and he's got kids, the kids are going to suffer when their dad is thrown into the slammer. It's not the duty or obligation of the U.S. to fix or straighten out the family situations of criminal invaders. Besides, it's called a deterrent, Jeb. If we reward the kids of lawbreakers, it just encourages more lawbreaking.
Oh, Lord, PLEASE don't let this idiot become President.
So are your presidential aspirations, Jeb.
“Wonder if his forbearance would extend to those of us who decided to not pay our income tax.”
Only if you are an illegal alien.
Dreamers. Who comes up with this linguistic bilge?
This is yet another example why I don’t understand the need to bash Jeb based on his family. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Jeb because of Jeb.
If they crossed the Mexican->USA border, they can cross the USA->Mexican border the same way. If they won't claim a border to be deported to, then there is plenty of USA border without a country on the other side... 3000 miles worth, some to the east some to the west. That border can be made to work too...
“Dreamers” do have a path to citizenship now. It is called Honorable Military Service.
actually if they were born in the usa they can return after 18. Their offspring are citizens IF they were in the usa 10 years before the offspring were born.
There is also the 10 year rolling amnesty program that has existed for DECADES.
it only changed in 1996 to increase from six years to ten. (something ted kennedy hated)
Dreamers is a propaganda tool word for serial immigration.
This is pure open contempt for the Conservative base. Why would any Conservative vote for Jeb Bush?
What does he mean no country to go back to? They are citizens of the country where born. Eligible for education there. Enough Make the parents pay for them. The sins of the fathers should not be remedied by the fathers of others children who need help in this damaged economy.
I don’t subscribe to the opinion of a no-good murderer about the “rights” of other criminals.
