President Barack Obama wants Christians to know Islam is not the only religion that has inspired violence and terror.
"Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the crusades and the inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ," Obama said Wednesday. "And in our home country, slavery, and Jim Crow, all too often was justified in the name of Christ."
Obama made the comments while giving a major speech on religion at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. Citing Islamic, Jewish, and Christian scripture, Obama touted his own faith.
"This prayer tradition has brought us together, giving us the opportunity to come together in humility before the Almighty and to be reminded of what it is that we share as children of God. And certainly for me this is always a chance to reflect on my own faith journey," he said. "No matter the challenge He has been there for all of us. He certainly strengthened me through the power of his spirit."

Well Christians in the Western World ended slavery while Muslims still practice it in the most horrifying ways. Explain that Mr. President!!!
Liberals think that logical fallacies are instructions in how to have an argument.
He also misunderstands the adage “to turn the other cheek.”
Just ask Reggie Love.
The situation was little different from today. The aggressive, Muslim Suljuk Turks had taken most of present day Turkey and Northern Syria from the Byzantines in 1071, and later 1074. This included the ancient Christian cities of Aleppo and Ephesus. Massacres and forced conversions followed. The Pope and Western kings knew that if Constantinople fell (the West also felt the Byzantines, though Christian, were soft and corrupt), the whole East of Europe was exposed. The Turkish invasion of Europe actually DID happen in the 14th-17th centuries, so they were absolutely correct in that later point.
The Catholic Church was the only "transnational" figure of the day in Europe, so it fell the Church to point this out to, and rally, the various kings and fiefdoms of Europe.
'The Future Must Not Belong To Those Who Slander The Prophet of Islam'
That (and myriad other comments both spoken & written) sure makes it sound like he is a very willing participant.
(Philosophical Question of the Day; "Can a person blackmail themselves?")
“This is who the man is.”
Yes. That does about sum it up.
There was an “ambassador” on Hannity (radio) yesterday that was getting very uncomfortable with Hannity for reading direct passages of the Koran commanding violence against the unbelievers.
All he could say was “different people interpret those passages different ways”.
Plus: Past and Present = Apples and Oranges.
And when these acts were committed, there were those of the faith who stood up and said, no this is not what Jesus had in mind. People do all kinds of things in the name of whatever religion or idealogy. But - with the exception of Islam - there are those who stood up and said no this is wrong.
He's not trying to say anything, merely attempting to confuse the isse while sounding 'intellectual'.
Wait till the latest "To Kill A Mockingbird" comes out.
I'm told the author is blind and senile and according to her sister who just dies, she'll sign anything you put in front of her.
How do we get huckabee and the other fake conservatives out before the primaries? All they do is steal a few percent from the true conservatives and we end up with a rino.
WILL the ANGELS come in and put a mark on the foreheads of all the people weeping for our CHRISTIAN nation?
I really despise the Kenyan A-hole in the White House.
And for every evil deed there stood brave persons to fight it!
Obama is either an ignorant fool, or worse, because there is an important distinction between what some Christians felt wrongly justified to do, when no Christian scripture justified it, and what many Muslims do and do find Islamic scripture that does justify it.
The Crusades were a response to Islamic aggression and tyranny...the sacking of Christian lands, and widespread murder of “infidels.”
The number of people killed during the Inquisition was a fraction of a fraction of the total killed by Muslims since the inception of their savage doctrine. Hell, half as many were killed on September 11 alone.
But most people don’t want to hear these truths nowadays. What Obama was saying plays much more to what they want to believe. I schooled some liberal women on a womens’ forum on these very issues, and they screamed-—internet style, anyway, in all caps-—in protest and called me insane.
Western Civilization is the accepted villain now, and it’s going to be very hard to get past that.
Islamasick people killing, beheading, enslaving Christians in the name of ‘allah’.
Or Christian warriors that banded together as the Crusaders to fight back!
Things have not changed in centuries other than those that bastardize history!!!
