The Time Is Right for Cruz Control

Cruz Control for America? Damned right.

These times call for someone who does not fear the media, the Democrats, oor the Washington/New York Republican establishment. We need someone who will plant a flag and draw a line in the sand, and mean it. These times require someone who realizes that the biggest threat to the country today is Washington – a realization that for too long America has been held hostage to "how Washington works," when it's Washington that should operate in light of how America works.

Ted Cruz fits the bill. Some others might as well – a certain governor from Wisconsin comes to mind – but as of yet, the GOP establishment have not opened up their guns on Scott Walker. Cruz has been under attack from those inside the Beltway since before he took the oath of office. According to many in the establishment mindset, he is a problem precisely because he doesn't understand "how Washington works." He's been called a wacko bird by a certain senior senator from Arizona, as you may recall.

Ted Cruz likely knows exactly how Washington works, and thus understands exactly how out of touch the Beltway culture is with the rest of America. This isolation dominates every policy and every issue – as those who discuss and vote on our legislation talk as if they are from another planet. As such, he is among a very short list of candidates who fit the requirements of 2016.

Of course, the Republican establishment does not agree, and apparently some on the right don't, either. That's fine. It's early yet. It is a bit unnerving, however, when conservatives use liberal and establishment conventional wisdom to pan a conservative. In her column here at American Thinker, contributor Doris O'Brien ...

“Traditionally”, one picks a veep based on a key state...that said, we left behind traditional times 8 yrs ago and guerrilla-wise need to do what it takes to save the republic. My hopes are that a caucus of sorts between the true conservatives occurs, even if it is only via cell or Skype and one ticket emerges like Walker/Cruz or other...the point is we can’t have several conservatives there in the primary to put Jeb-lib to the top.

The last four Democrats wins for President have come with Veeps from Tennessee and Delaware.....so there’s that.

And that’s not the topic at hand really.

Excellent article, but you said it all in those six words.

Hear! Hear!

——a caucus of sorts-——

In my mind what you suggest is a “Conservative secondary”. A secondary process ends up with a conservative candidate eo compete in the primary

No. I don't see either man accepting second spot on the ticket.

As much as I might want to be all in for Ted, I cannot discard the Buckley rule: Nominate the most conservative candidate who can win.

Like it or not, to defeat the Dems, we have to peel of a good chunk of the 47%. And a good percentage of that bloc swallow the lies told on Ted.

I am not all in for Walker, yet. And it is very early. I am watching Cruz to see if he can somehow build his own power base in the Senate and thwart the foolishness of McConnell.

Would love to see him be able to block Lynch.

I agree the time is right for Ted Cruz, and I wish he’d start taking it more seriously. He needs to get out in front of the pack and start talking about what he’d do as president. Talking about doing away with the IRS and sending the staff to the border is a good one-liner for a speech but we all know that he can’t get rid of the IRS. So what does he think he can do about the tax code and how would he get it through? What will he do to slash spending? How will his solution for those without healthcare work and why will it work better than Obamacare? The time has come for Ted Cruz to get serious about this. Or he’ll find himself way behind lesser candidates in the race and will struggle to catch up.

CEW- I just don’t want the real conservatives beating each other up when the Jebs need to be beaten up and exposed. There is only so much $ to run with as all the crony capitalist boards, COCs, Kochs will have copious $ . We have to be united . Do I agree with your piece? Of course x 10. Like most things that irritate my wife, I’ve processed it and thinking, strategizing past it instead of enjoying it. BTW...also praying, petitioning for God to send us Godly leaders is also part of a good plan...Cruz fits that well.

Now that is a great thought to follow. His ability to lead in the Senate could be indicative to not only his ability but to his general political health

Srsly?

The GOP convention begins July 18, 2016, with the primaries starting in January, 2016. Historically, most of the candidates start their campaigns in the summer of the prior year.

Ted Cruz has been talking regularly on the important issues and leads the way in the Senate. It's very clear what he would do as President.

CRC - Thanks for reading, but I'm not sure I said anything about beating up any conservatives. I don't even think we should beat up Jeb. I think the candidate who beats up the Democrats, Obama, whoever the 16 nominee is, and all liberals, will win. I think one of the dumbest things of conventional campaign wisdom is that you run a primary against your primary opponents. You should run a primary against the other guys better than your primary opponents.

Otherwise, you're scoring points for the other team in the General election already. Besides, it's not what voters want. Think of the two big surges Newt had in 2012? It's when he laser focused on Obama and all liberals. Think of his fumbles? When he focused on Mitt.

With due respects, you are wrong. Getting caught up in the minutae is NOT how leaders lead and it’s NOT how you win elections. You win elections by setting the sails in the right direction, able to handle any direction of the wind. You leave the details to others.

But you must understand........ conservatives beat each other up to advertise their purity of thought and increase their self esteem. Self trumps America

I think jeb has already thrown his race given the leftist crap he’s been spewing. He’s disqualified himself unless he changes party affiliation.

Well, I love Cruz and I’d love to have him for president but when I look out across the landscape I have to wonder how many people would really vote for him. Walker is good but he doesn’t excite me as much as Cruz. Perhaps he and Mark Levin could head up this convention of the states that keeps getting mentioned. You’d definitely need a good lawyer there.
