The Inquisition burned people and condemned books. These idiots are 500 years behind times.
The savages in ISIS share many Nazi traits. Book burning is low on the list.
Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. The Soviet Union worked people to death in the frozen North and condemned books. Has ISIS/DAESH worked anybody to death in the frozen North yet? Huh? Huh? Huh? Well, that proves that they’re better than the Soviets, because they haven’t yet conquered Alaska. So there.
Calvin burned people and books. There were some bad times in Christianity, but none of them came from the Scriptures or even from the teaching of the Church - they were all human corruption.
The difference is that in the case of Islam, this stuff is enshrined in their scriptures. The Old Testament is very violent and cruel, too, but Jews certainly didn’t take it as a model for behavior and instead looked for the meaning behind the stories and adhered to the fundamental Mosaic law. Granted, they got obsessed with ritual law (which Islam copied from them), but the whole point of Jesus’ preaching was that the moral law wasn’t just ritual fulfillment, but adherence to the Law revealed to Moses.
Islam is a bizarre syncretist cult founded by a loony who was looking to justify his criminality and violence and sexual depravity. It came into a world where both Christians and Jews were in fragile condition, riven by heresies, and where there was no longer one single secular authority, as there had been with the Romans.
