New anti-terror bill will give Canadian spies police-like powers to disrupt terrorist plots

Sweeping new anti-terrorism powers introduced by the Conservative government Friday include giving Canadian spies police-like powers to disrupt terrorist operations, allow authorities to remove terrorist propaganda from the internet and make it a crime to promote or to advocate others to engage in terrorism.

Many of the measures will affect the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service.

The plan to boost CSIS’s ability to counter terrorist threats flows from a federal review of fatal attacks on two Canadian soldiers last October.

As expected, the bill would also make it easier for the RCMP to obtain a peace bond to restrict the movements of a suspect, and it extends the period for preventative arrest and detention.

At least they’re treating it like war. During WWII, the US had all sorts of laws and surveillance against local Germans (and even German Americans), Bund organizations, and Japanese organizations. Putting the Japanese into camps was going way too far and was mainly an expression of the West Coast’s perennial anti-Asian bias (ironic, considering the huge Asian population there now), but there was and reasonably should have been more surveillance of Japanese groups.

Of course, nowadays, it’s acceptable (only if you’re Muslim, of course) to post your “kill the kaffir” rants everywhere and simply cruise back and forth to the terrorist hotbed of your choice.

It has been long predicted that a police state would be the result of third world immigration.

Appears it’s coming true in Canada.

Why not just give them a “license to kill” and be done with it.

It will pass as government bills are easily passed by Parliament when the governing party has a majority in the House Of Commons.
