Canada Ping!
At least they’re treating it like war. During WWII, the US had all sorts of laws and surveillance against local Germans (and even German Americans), Bund organizations, and Japanese organizations. Putting the Japanese into camps was going way too far and was mainly an expression of the West Coast’s perennial anti-Asian bias (ironic, considering the huge Asian population there now), but there was and reasonably should have been more surveillance of Japanese groups.
Of course, nowadays, it’s acceptable (only if you’re Muslim, of course) to post your “kill the kaffir” rants everywhere and simply cruise back and forth to the terrorist hotbed of your choice.
