The newly GOP-controlled US Senate has approved the Keystone XL Pipeline in a 62-36 vote, with three Democrats joining all 53 Republicans.
However, the issue is far from over.
Now the White House will be in an embroiled battle with the US Congress, as the Senate and House versions of the Keystone legislation must still be synchronized.
The White House and liberal Democrats have been fighting the Keystone Pipeline for years now. Notable Democrats opposed to the energy project are Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA).
Boxer told the AP that passing the Keystone Pipeline was a disgrace.
This bill is a disgrace, said Sen. Barbara Boxer, the top Democrat on the Senate environment committee. We tried on our side to make this a better bill and they turned us away.
Reid and Boxer both received campaign cash from former Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), who desperately tried to get Democrats on board with the project, but ultimately failed.
President Obama is likely to veto the pipeline project and this could be worrisome for Republicans, as they do not right now have the votes to override a veto.
They should vote to entirely defund the White Hut vacation budget until Obola signs it.
Drill Baby Drill!!!
There’s a budget?
There is too much money being made by rail for this to go through.
I assume that it is somehow budgeted. I read that the Obama vacations in 2014 to Africa and Hawaii last year cost taxpayers $16 million. That amount is ridiculous on its face. Congress should just cut their travel funding to a small fraction of that until he signs.
Just direct EPA to make the rail companies implement strict safety regulations...for the safety of the children, women, minorities, people of color, illegal aliens, transgenders and hermaphrodites along the rail track.
Is their math off?
The math seems off. It passes 62-36, but the repubs have 53 and 3 dems voted for it? To me that means there were 56 votes for it, not 62.
That's what the Republicans said when they were locked out of the room as you and your fellow socialists passed a bill that destroyed the nation's healthcare system, you filthy POS.
Maybe it is common core math.
So Obama vetoes something good for the economy and jobs and is popular, and "this could be worrisome for Republicans??" Of course not! If Obama vetoes this and continues to veto bills, he will be even more unpopular and allow Republicans to frame the Democrats as the party of "NO" in 2016. Democrats know this.
Here are the nine Democrats who voted for it:
Bennet (CO)
Carper (DE)
Casey Jr. (PA)
Donnelly (IN)
Heitkamp (ND)
Manchin III (WV)
McCaskill (MO)
Tester (MT)
Warner (VA)
so why did they say 3 democrats voted for it instead of 9?
Because they always lie.
Calling fifth column ... pick up the red phone ....
casey ????!!!!!?????!!!!!
I guess no copy editors or page editors review articles before they’re printed to catch obvious math errors.
This bill is a disgrace, said Sen. Barbara Boxer
Actually Senator Boxer Was, IS, and always Be a Disgrace..
A traitor as as fully as Chuck Schumer and All the Kennedys were (and still are)..
