As DeflateGate video leaks, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Seahawk's Richard Sherman feud

PHOENIX — The New England Patriots owner and Seattle Seahawks cornerback were trading insults while the NFL was reportedly reviewing video of a Patriots employee going into the bathroom with a bag of footballs.

Just when you thought Super Bowl Media Day couldn’t get any more bizarre...

Thanks to DeflateGate, though, there seems to be no limit to this theater of the absurd, which took yet another twist as the Patriots and Seahawks met a mass of reporters at the U.S. Airways Center on Tuesday. The backdrop was a report that the NFL had video of a Patriots locker room attendant carrying a bag of 24 balls into a bathroom, where he stayed for 90 seconds before the AFC Championship Game.

The main event, though, was Pats owner Robert Kraft saying his players viewed DeflateGate as “a bunch of hogwash” and striking back at Richard Sherman, two days after Seattle’s mouthy cornerback ripped NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for being too close to Kraft.

“I think Richard Sherman is a very smart marketing whiz,” Kraft deadpanned...

And the New England Patriots are now the New England Democrats. Since the rules don’t apply to them, and cheating is normal.

Kraft can deadpan all he wants, he didn’t deny the commish is still his BFF.

After his involvement on behalf of Goodell about the Ray Rice incident, people of course started questioning his definition of ‘integrity’.

At the end of the article, “.....(he did it) so patriots fans and I and my family can enjoy the game.” ...... What class! (sarcasm and speechless)

90 seconds to take 12 balls out of a bag, deflate them 2 PSI and put them back in the bag. SURE....

You right. Scientists came forward on Friday and basically said that it was the weather, not the Patriots, that was responsible for deflating 11 of New England’s 12 balls.

NOT All dozen...just 11 of them...

That would give him over 8 seconds per ball...not problematic in the least for somebody who...
(a) knows what they're doing...
(b) and, for all we know, may have been practicing at it all week as hard as what the Pats were doing on the field...

If it took 99 seconds vs. some round # being given now...that's 9 seconds per ball.

My last post: "If it took 99 seconds vs. some round # being given now...that's 9 seconds per ball."

I've seen NFL commentators go on and on about QBs who get 6-7 seconds of pocket time to unload a pass.

9 seconds? They'd go crazy & fans of such a defense get incredibly "ancie."

Watch a QB in the pocket for 9 seconds & you can see how long that is!

The Patriots hired an elite expert witness with a MLB background:

Let's see...If I recall Gaylord Perry talked about what he could do with a cut baseball...like a cut generated by a sharp edge of a ring...

If MLB umpires didn't regularly toss out scuffed balls...and only could rotate a dozen thru the entire game...and if they didn't scrutinize those dozen...

...What could pitchers like Perry do with just a cut-mark on a ball??? (LOTS)

And then if a pitcher like Perry -- if he was in on a press conference -- and he claimed that he didn't realize that 93% of the baseballs the first half of the baseball game were literally cut baseballs (vs. a "cut" pitch)...

...His believeability would be at what level???

So they are paying him to testify that Brady wasn't spitting on the footballs?

OK, I’m getting on in years, but it takes me at least 90 seconds to take a leak. I don’t think I could do 11 or 12 separate operations in that period of time, whatever they are. I suppose if I had a special device for inflating a given amount (not sure what that would be... maybe 3 seconds with a calibrated orifice on a needle), I could pull it off, but I’d have to hustle. Please allow time for unpacking and repacking the bag. 90 seconds?

(Yeah, well multiply a NASCAR pit crew's tire-changing routine by 25 -- and you & I can't still aren't likely to change a tire in that duration, you see, that's what they do for a living...they practice)

Now a lockerroom attendant is no pro pit crew, but he wouldn't need to be.

"Today’s six-member [NASCAR pitcrew] teams can change four tires and add fuel in as little as 11 seconds.." TECHNOLOGY COUNTDOWN: PIT STOPS

So a 6 member pitcrew can change 4 tires plus fuel up in 11 seconds.

that's 1 guy per tire & 1 guy fueling...the other guy is probably assisting all of the above...

Essentially, then, a pit crew member can change one tire in 11 seconds.

If an entire tire can be removed & replaced in that time...a measly 15% of air from a single football can be removed in that time -- even by somebody not operating every move at pitcrew speed!

I have always hated the Patriots, but this whole incident, and Sherman’s mouth, plus Seattle’s Big Brother garbage spying law, have made me root for them for the first time ever.

Cutting baseballs leaves marks. Take Mr. Perry’s advice and load the ball. Use some sort of lubricant that allows the ball to squirt out of the fingers with very little friction. Preferably this lubricant will dry within seconds, like the modern waterless hand sanitizer. The ball does interesting things, tailing left or right, falling off the table.

As for what Perry would say when asked about his masterful techniques, he would say check me any time. He used to leave little notes in his gloves and hat for when the umps would check. They would say things like ‘Not here’ and ‘Not here either.’ I think he was actually caught once. He claims to have eventually found a way to throw a ‘dry spitter’ and not actually be loading balls but still enjoyed the psychological effects of the batter thinking he was loading.

Someone needs to post that picture of Reggie Jackson plunging his hands into the cooler and him being wrestled back to the dug out after Gaylord struck him out.

Yep. Communications major, Bachelor's from Stanford.

People are quick to condemn him as a thug based on superficial appearance, but this guy writes articles for publications, knows human nature, and is incredibly lucid.

Love Richard Sherman! He made my significant other, an intellectual gal with a 150+ IQ who normally doesn't follow sports, into a football fan...

It would take me 5 seconds to switch one bag with 12 footballs in it with another bag with 11 deflated footballs in it and one good one for the kicker.
Dirty work needs to be fast and simple.
Juggling footballs in a bathroom does not meet those requirements.
