Forget the post-PC era. The Mac just continues to get bigger. For its fiscal 2015 first quarter that ended Dec. 27, 2014, Apple sold 5.5 million Macs. Thats up 9% year-over-year and up 14% from the previous quarter and brought in revenue of US$6.9 billion.
Apple has gained market share verses Windows PCs in all quarters since 2005 but one. The Mac has surpassed overall PC growth for 34 of the last 35 quarters. The Macs unit share of the worldwide PC market has grown from 2.1% in 2005 to 5.5% in 2013. Apples U.S. market share is somewhere between 10% and 14%, depending on whose statistics you believe.

Oh OK so when I pointed out that Apple uses planned obsolescence when they update their software to a point it won't work on their older devices and you say their updates make the newer items faster (hahahaha) then that would be a straw man argument to. No, because I was referring to Apple's products. You were responding to my specific comment with a straw man which was not responsive to the point I made. You claimed Apple has always done X. . . which I disproved. Your point is exactly wrong from our experience from years of using the products YOU DO NOT and have NEVER USED, so quit trying to tell us we do not know what we are talking about. In other words, you are the one who is lying, . . and deliberately spreading FUD.

So where can you obtain a legit copy of the Apple OS? You cannot. They don't sell OS X.10

"You claimed Apple has always done X. . . which I disproved."So you are saying apple does not upgrade their OS to the point older devices can't use it because it will slow it down if used (because of lack of processor speed and not enough memory) and thus get left behind and become obsolete tech even though macworld sez different and BTW if not true why won't the original iPad run os7 or os8 not to mention the first three versions of the iPhone?

You don't use Apple products, so why are your panties in such a wad about it? Those devices run fine on the iOS they were designed to run on. Android users in most cases cannot upgrade at all. Give it a rest.

I suspect that Windows 8 had a lot to do with Apples market share increase Did in my household. We bought three Mac laptops in the past 5 months. I never owned a Mac in my life up till now.
Microsoft screwed the pooch with 8.0/8.1. I use computers mostly for work and don't have time for a learning curve to figure out the three steps it takes to accomplish what I used to do in one. Hell, I'm still learning all the extra bull sh!t steps in Office 2010!

Of course we both know the answer to that yet you tried cover up the fact Apple runs the same model as all the other gadget manufacturers planned obsolescence through abandoning the prior operating systems and making the newer operating systems so they will not work on the older products.
BTW it is amazing the lengths you will go to to try and cover up your mistakes especially in the use of deflection and false analogy and straw man arguments. Now your position is "you don't use the stuff" and "Well android is worse?" Tell me how does that change what Apple does? It's out in the open for all to see that what I point out is true yet you twist yourself in knots trying to hide what is apparent to anyone with an IQ in the double digits.

I have made NO mistakes. Only YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT WHAT YOU PERCEIVE AS ERRORS. Get the damn log out of your platform's upgrade eye before you complain about mine, asshat. Until you can upgrade EVERY ANDROID MODEL EVER MADE TO THE LATEST ANDROID, SHUT THE HELL UP! HYPOCRITE!

When did I say Android doesn't use the same model as all the rest in fact I said All the gadget makers engage in the same planned obsolescence model. Seriously Sparky you are becoming unhinged now. Face it you were wrong yet again and you are coming unglued trying to cover it up.

Well, Im old school and dont think a $500 product should only have a four year shelf life, so I think my next tablet will be a Samsung running Droid. And it's your expectation that a Samsung tablet will keep up with more than four years' worth of OS upgrades? Good luck with that.

Could be could you explain how it applies. I said ALL the gadget makers do the same thing and then you accuse me of being a hypocrite mentioning Android. And somehow that makes me a hypocrite.
You do understand what the term "All" means don't you? Maybe there is an adult that can explain it to you.
Here let me help ALL includes Android as well.

Now that you mention it, his comment really does raise serious questions about what he actually does with his computers... Needs a hard drive for a floppy, probably.
To: Smedley
Yes, but a lot of people run on the myth that you cannot run windows on a mac, and as my cousin who is a mac user demonstrated, he does everything from playing PC Games to running PC apps by essentially booting up his MacBook Pro into Windows, essentially he has two computers in one.
