I took the flu shot once.
Got very sick that year and the next, IIRC.
Haven’t bothered with it since.
Washing my hands, including fingertips, and staying away from people who have just sneezed, using a paper towel to turn the doorknob of public restrooms, and other paranoid habits seem to have worked a lot better than the vaccine.
I was basically forced to get it by my employer back in November. I would have probably gotten it anyways if it wasn’t too expensive. I think it probably helps the herd but might not be necessary for every individual and it sounds like the CDC really dropped the ball when they chose the strains to include in the vaccine. I think the vaccine itself has room for improvement too.
This year - got the shot, got the flu 2-3 days later.
Got the flu again 6 weeks later.
