More than 1,400 flights were already canceled in the greater New York City area Monday morning. Gov. Cuomo told commuters Sunday they should consider staying home in preparation for the storm that's set to dump up to 3 feet of snow on the city.

They use to put a hat and coat on her and push her out into Soldier's Field Road, just outside the Channel 4 offices. Then they'd run out a 1,000 foot extension cord and film her live, just like they were in the studio. They employed some other tricks as well.
At the time, this was whiz-bang technology and the other Boston stations were scrambling to figure out how they were able to put Shelby out in the street - live on camera.
Ingenious. I met two women from Minnesota when my husband and I were in Flagstaff the other. One told us that she drove her Camaro across icy lakes during the 70s to get to school and ice—no biggie. And when the lake froze over, the town would re-establish their bars, restaurants, etc., on the ice. She knew people with two story ice fishing houses.
I have to hand to you stalwart Minnesotans. thank-you for the story—I will pass it on.
Does this mean we get to see Chris Christy hug Obama again???
Mrs. Theknow is the Minnesooota native. Moved there with her in '72.
Got a job where my sales territory was all the states East of the Mississippi.
Quit when my kids started calling me Uncle Dad.
1st winter in Minnesota, me a native South Carolinian, I was helping my father-in-law put up a TV antenna (remember those?) in sub-zero weather.
Humidity was frozen as you could see the frozen water particles floating by in the air, when you breathed in through your nose, they condensed and melted onto your upper lip.
I was trying to grow my first and only mustache and the ice was covering it. Wiped my upper lip with my mitten (gloves are useless in sub-zero weather) and I broke my mustache.
Performed many experiments in sub-zero weather that were remarkable. Throw a glass a water in the air watch it freeze before hitting the ground, spit and listen to it POP in front of your face, blow soap bubbles and watch them crash to earth without bursting.
They have interrupted regular programming on 710 and 77 AM to tell everybody what they are doing and what they think we should be doing. I’m 56 years old and this level of panic for snow in January is a first for me.
Excellent !
