They are all over the place or so convoluted (Santorum) because they are trying to be all things to all people. They don’t want to commit to one aspect and then have to retract it when they face another group.
Jeb Bush in a related thread was on one of the Sunday morning talkies. He supposed relied on the same ole tired canard: Secure the border first. The problem is, they want to stick that feature in a comprehensive package so they can conveniently forget it later or, claim like former HSD Janet Napolitano — ‘it is more secure than it has ever been.’
They all say “secure the border first”. I don’t believe any of them until I see it secured and working for several years. When I see border security in place and working, when I see illegals being detained and returned, when I see current immigration law enforced and I see consistent results then I’ll believe our border is secure. Until then I don’t even want to hear about tweaking or changing our immigration laws.
If the powers that be cannot enforce the laws that have already been passed what is to prevent them from ignoring new ones as well. And since we’ve already been burned in that respect we’d have to be fools to fall for it again.
