They all say “secure the border first”. I don’t believe any of them until I see it secured and working for several years. When I see border security in place and working, when I see illegals being detained and returned, when I see current immigration law enforced and I see consistent results then I’ll believe our border is secure. Until then I don’t even want to hear about tweaking or changing our immigration laws.
If the powers that be cannot enforce the laws that have already been passed what is to prevent them from ignoring new ones as well. And since we’ve already been burned in that respect we’d have to be fools to fall for it again.
I agree but to me a ‘secure border’ also means tracking visa overstayers and visa violators (i.e. people working while on a tourist or student visa). Most of the illegal aliens I’ve known have flown in and out frequently. Like Aunt Zeituni they ‘come and go all the time.’
