If the Obama Administration has its way, the 1st Amendment will be subject to review by the United Nations.
The UN is pushing member nations to adopt something they call UN resolution 16/18. This is a resolution- proposed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which is made up of 56 Islamic states- which would criminalize "hate speech" targeting Muslims.
This wholly un-Constitutional proposal was first floated in the aftermath of 9/11 amid fears that American Muslims would be unfairly targeted for abuse. The Bush Administration rightly rejected it. As Forbes notes,
Previous versions of the Resolution, which sought to criminalize blasphemous speech and the “defamation of religion,” were regularly rejected by the American delegation and by the US State Department, which insisted that limitations on speech – even speech deemed to be racist or blasphemous – were at odds with the Constitution. But this latest version, which includes the “incitement to imminent violence” phrase – that is, which criminalizes speech which incites violence against others on the basis of religion, race, or national origin – has succeeded in winning US approval –despite the fact that it (indirectly) places limitations as well on speech considered “blasphemous.”
Lovely. 56 Islamic nations have drafted a proposal that would make blasphemous speech (as defined by Muslims) illegal, and the American President supports this notion.
Let's note the Left's hypocrisy on this, since they would never dream of trying to criminalize speech that Christians or Jews might deem blasphemous. If any other President supported such a measure, we would all assume he'd been drugged and brainwashed. With Obama, it's par for the course.

Article is remarkably nonspecific about what exactly this Resolution is.
A treaty? If so, it requires 2/3 of the Senate for ratification. Which ain’t gonna happen. In any case, no treaty can override the Constitution itself.
A law to be passed by the Congress? Not likely it would get thru a Congress where both Houses are GOP majority. Even if it did, again a Law cannot override the Constitution.
Much ado about not very much.

For the world is divided, in Islam, between Muslim and non-Muslim, Believer and Infidel. Infidels are not permitted to express any view of Islam that is critical. It would not be right, it would not be just. Come to think of it, Muslims are not permitted to express criticism of Muhammad either, but for Muslims, speaking to a Muslim audience, some will describe Muhammad with pride as “a merciless war chief, plunderer, slaughterer of Jews and a polygamist” in those or very similar terms, and others will express the same thing in a different, slightly more muted way. But in either case the description cannot be taken as criticism. For whatever Muhammad did was right. He is the Perfect Man, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil. Were he not the Perfect Man, Islam itself might crumble.
In Redeker’s case — he being an Infidel — his articulating the very aspects of Muhammad’s life that Muslims are taught not as deplorable but as part of his entirely admirable existence, have earned him the murderous threats he has received.

as a physician with a keen interest in infectious diseases, I have to disagree with you. Even with modern genetics studies there is some debate about the origins since there are similar organisms and diseases related to them found in mediterranean and caribbean cultures and history. There are still many ivory tower experts arguing these points today.
There is NO doubt that Mohammed raped his way through many cultures throughout the middle east as did his followers. There were other venereal diseases around at that time - there are arguments about whether Herod I died from one (or several) or just run of the mill complications of hypertension, diabetes and peripheral artery disease (atherosclerosis).
STDs are like that. They’ve been around forever and the more you “play the field,” like any zero sum game, eventually you catch one or several.
So was Mohammed syphilitic? Mad, certainly, “epileptic” possibly, so call my comment “artistic license” and move along.

“Allahu Akbar” is NOT Arabic for “God is great”.
What the expression means, specifically, is “Allah is GREATER.” It is a warrior challenge to Jews and Christians and is intended as such. Allah and God are NOT synonymous. Since the time of the split of arab and hebrew culture when Esau sold his birthright to Isaak for a bowl of porridge, Esau and arabs chose to worship the desert moon god “allah” - who we in the west understand clearly to be satan’s representative. If Allah is the same God as Jehovah, YHVH, G-D, why did arabs change his name?
Be careful to not help spread the lies (the most insidious of these being “God and Allah are the same.”).
Words mean things, and “allah hu akbar” means quite simply it’s islam versus the rest of the civilized world.

I’m not a physician, but I am somewhat of an amateur historian, and the coincidence of it first showing up in a massive European outbreak in 1495 at the Siege of Naples is just a little too much.

I’ve watched many politicians, ostensibly christian politicians, make extraordinary efforts to kow tow to, to violate their oaths of office to give muslims what they want from local school boards serving halal lunches, to foot baths in airports, to allowing mosques where churches weren’t allowed, to letting school children be forced to learn the five pillars of islam, forced to wear hijabs, visit mosques, all that.
Our government sends billions of dollars to so-called palestinians whose government - Hamas - is a self-described terrorist agency, sworn to force Israel into the sea.
The best I can figure is, these politicians know, as you mention, islam will take over the world.
The goal of the second - global - caliphate isn’t a secret.
What is curious is why so many “progressives” (marxist communists, fabian socialists, democrats, liberals) seem to be “falling for” the lies of the muslim brotherhood front groups like CAIR and others if the goal of a world-wide communist government has always been the plan from THEIR point of view and doctrine and doxy.
Do they think they can water-down, somehow diminish the fervor of the muslims, co-opt them as they have the American Democrat and Republican parties?
Are they simply attempting to buy some time for themselves, their families, their interests? Thinking long-term, knowing islam WILL eventually ascend to a global caliphate, with sharia the law of the world, are they trying to insulate themselves, find a way of currying favor with the imams?

They will buy themselves some time, some isolation. For a while. A few years, a decades or more maybe, but eventually this will come to a head, a final showdown. It’s predictable, and is in both muslim and christian cultural tradition. Twelfth imam is satan? Armageddon right around the corner?
