A Missouri lawmaker is pushing a measure that would require identification each time a person uses Apple Pay with their iPhone or other mobile payment systems on their non-Apple phones. Democratic Rep. Joshua Peters of St. Louis says the bill he introduced Wednesday requires customers to show a state drivers license or other identification when they use a mobile wallet app or other electronic payment system...
... Merchants would have to record the license or identification number or could be responsible for the illegal purchases made if a device is reported stolen.

So, MO Auditor Tom Schweich is running for Governor. He launched his campaign by going hard negative against GOP primary foe Catherine Hanaway, accusing her of corruption because some rich guy donated a lot to her campaign.

A really nasty primary is just what we need to take back an office we’ve only won once in the last 6 tries.
Meanwhile rat State Rep. Keith English, the only rat to vote to override a Nixon veto of a tax cut last year, has switched to “I”. Didn’t go full “R”, possibly because his district (Florissant, St. Louis County) is rat leaning.
At present, I’m leaning to Schweich for Governor. Koster is the real threat, and he sold his soul to the Democrats when he was in the legislature (as a RINO) and has been amassing money as Attorney General. The Dems have effectively anointed him for Governor (following in Nixon’s footsteps).
I’m inclined to back Schweich too based on good things I’ve heard and the fact he’s been elected statewide (beating a rat incumbent no less), but I don’t like this circular firing squad stuff. If Hanaway wins the primary that Judas scumbag Koster will use Schweich’s remarks.
Hanaway had a cleared field for Secretary of State in 2004, fresh off of serving as the 1st GOP House Speaker in MO since 1929, but she still lost by 5% even as Matt Blunt took the Governor’s race (against Robin Carnahan). That she’s running now 12 years out of elective office is bizarre, because I wouldn’t consider her a first-tier candidate (add to that, the individual Schweich cited as a donor to Hanaway also is bankrolling Koster, which is troubling).
Schweich was so formidable in 2014 that the Dems didn’t even run a candidate against him. One big thing the state GOP should do under a Gov. Schweich (and I’ve mentioned it before), is that all statewide offices should shift to off-year elections.
I didn't know that. That changes things for me.
The leg could pass a constitutional amendment now they wanted to (put it on the ballot) it doesn't even take a supermajority. I agree, they should.
Minor correction, the article claimed the “Conservative activist” previously donated to Koster, but apparently hasn’t in this cycle.
Maybe he gave to him while he was a RINO.
