The proposed changes to the CFAA and related laws, posted online by the White House early last week, would broaden the definition of computer crime and stiffen penalties for existing crimes, including doubling the maximum penalty for many violations from 10 years to 20 years.

Well isn’t that the goal of WH?
Just one more to add to the list.
The RICO addition is likely directed at the type of organized cybercrime that emanates from Russia and other former Soviet-bloc countries, but if it becomes law, it could just as easily be applied to anyone affiliated with any kind of suspected hacking group.
"Even if you dont do any of this, you can still be guilty if you hang around with people who do," said Robert Graham, CEO of Errata Security in Atlanta, in a blog posting last Wednesday (Jan. 14). Hanging out in an IRC chat room giving advice to people now makes you a member of a criminal enterprise, allowing the FBI to sweep in and confiscate all your assets without charging you with a crime.***

RICO? Haven't heard that in a long time!
So, theoretically, the White Hut could be charged under RICO for hacking Atkinson’s computer?
"Under the new proposal, sharing your ... password with a friend would be a felony,"
"Even sharing passwords for online accounts would potentially be punishable."
"Believe what youve heard" about o-bamas proposals, Joseph Lorenzo Hall, chief technologist at the Center for Democracy & Technology, warned this past Friday (Jan. 16) at ShmooCon 2015.
Half the people I know can’t remember any of theirs and ask me if I do. I have a hard enough time keeping track of mine. Since I am an IT person, apparently I am expected to know.
Is that still a thing?
“If you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve got nothing to fear.”
Except that they define what “wrong” is. Sort of like they define what “poverty” is.
The entire regime, including the liars, thieves and perverts in Congress, are the very definition of RICO.
Wrong is anything that impedes the Left. Everybody should know that by now.
This is what they do. They arrest and convict innocent people. This gets the arrest numbers up, so they can crow about how they are fighting crime.
Also, normal, innocent people don’t know how to fight the corrupt system, and are much easier to slam into jail than the true criminals. Who they let run free.
Most of the Old fools in Congress know more about Ticker Tape than they do about computers
I figured the Centcom twitter flap was a false flag to get something like this.
Of course... Any B.S. excuse to “Oh we have to protect you” nonsense.
It’s just like when the mafia that tells a small business you better pay us protection money or something might bad happen to your business.
And if the small business does not comply, then sure enough something bad happens and keeps happening until they pay that “protection” money.
Guess who is suspect #1. The very same people that kept warning you. This is how they get their money, power and control.
Everyday MORE and MORE people are awakening from their sleep to KNOW WHO made that bad thing happen.
You got a nice biz, wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to it...
LOL... Exactly!
To many of us we all know WHO is the guilty.
It’s been going on all of our lives for crying out loud!
The American Dream is a prime example.
Home ownership.
My Mortgage is paid off.
I just paid my taxes.
If I don’t, who OWNS my home?
