The new border bills drafted by Republican leaders require the actual removal of at least 66 miles of weak border fencing between laborers in Mexico and employers in the United States.
The border bills also only require for the construction of 27 miles of effective double-layer fencing along the 2,000-mile border.
“It is a remarkable that the direction of our progress is going backwards, from a goal of building 700 miles of double-layer border fencing [in 2006] to only 27 miles [in 2015],” said a Hill staffer who opposes the leaders’ bills.
“Where the double-layer fence has been put in, it has worked spectacularly. The public is with us 80, 90 percent on this issue,” he added.
Extra fencing would be a waste of money, according to Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security.

A border fence would be nice, but building it takes forever.
Better we have genuine border enforcement and speedy deportation of illegal border crossers. Require border patrol to be on the lookout, catch [no release] and detain. Have the deportation hearing on the bus ride from the detainment facility to the border [no hardship waivers or appeals].
The big money boys in both parties want cheap labor. In 2006, I was in coastal Alabama and talked in Spanish with a Mexican laborer. He was there for post Katrina rebuilding, hired by a large Atlanta, GA company and being paid $4 an hour. Minimum wage was higher than that. He also said he would rather work in Mexico if there were jobs, but liked the US because our police are honest.

Did you call your representative in Congress? 202-224-3121. Find the local office of your representative and call that too. They take note of the calls.
What’s all this then about removing border feces, and why is that a problem?
The Republicans??? There are NONE.
Whatever is logical or better is worthless, because the scumbags won’t enforce the law. People have turned to building the fence because its self-enforcing. You don’t have to rely on lying politicians or bureaucrats for it to work.
