Hoooo boy. Billy Crystal has angered plenty with some poorly-worded statements he made about the portrayal of gay sex scenes on television. According to The Independent, during a panel on the Television Critics Association this weekend promoting his upcoming FX series The Comedians, Crystal said he can do without all the gratuitous P-in-the-B scenes that TV keeps shoving in his face:
Speaking during a panel interview in Pasadena, the actor said: Sometimes I think: Ah thats too much for me.
Sometimes, its just pushing it a little too far for my taste and Im not going to reveal to you which ones they are. I hope people dont abuse it and shove it in our face to the point where it feels like an every-day kind of thing, Crystal added.

“Which makes me wonder if that wasnt the real reason it was cancelled.”
The show ended, but I don’t think you could say it was cancelled, I think they just got to the end of the story. And there was enough bad stuff going on in Breaking Bad, the fact that they didn’t have any homosexuality did not make it a “family friendly” show.
Every word of that I agree with as if I could have written it.
I see no reason to use the word gay, they are homosexuals and people using the word gay to describe them is only painting a happy pretty picture on their disgusting sick agenda.
Of course, Julian Fellowes, the writer of that show, is a conservative I hear.
I don't mind the occasional gay character; I've known some very delightful gay people. It's not like they don't exist. I've also known some very disturbed ones. But for Every. Single. Show. to have this gay plot line... it's getting tiresome. They are a tiny fraction of the population, regardless of their infantile need to believe that absolutely everyone (particularly every handsome man) is GAY or a wanna-be GAY.
“Susan Harris wrote the famous Maude Abortion episode. She also created Soap and The Golden Girls.”
Hated The Golden Girls. Maude made me wanna spew chunks. But I liked Soap.
This is one of the many reasons why I don’t have cable or a TV signal. I am very picky about what I watch. DVDs and the internet are good for that.
Jessica confusing Plato and Pluto. “Mickey Mouse’s dog was gay?!?!?!”
Poorly worded, Helen? I think Billy said exactly what he meant to say and we both understood it perfectly well, which is why I’m nodding and you’re probably steaming out your ears.
Truth be told, even straight sex scenes on the tube are getting a bit much. Even on cable. Eating butt, HBO? Seriously? I didn’t even need to read about that. I’m just thanking God it wasn’t Lena Dunham.
And yes, I know, Billy first really broke big playing a gay man on “Soap”. I was around for that. And compared to some of what’s on these days, that show was freaking “Leave It To Beaver”.
I grew up with a parent and her partner[s] in an atmosphere in which gay ideology was used as a tool of repression, retribution and abuse, wrote B.N. Klein of her lesbian mother and her series of live-in lovers. I have seen that children in gay households often become props to be publically [sic] displayed to prove that gay families are just like heterosexual ones.
"I know that the gay community has never in my lifetime put children first as anything other than a piece of property, a past mistake or a political tool to be dressed up and taken out as part of a dog-and-pony show to impress the well-meaning, Klein wrote. She added that as a child of a lesbian mother, she was pressured to pay constant homage and attention to her mothers gay identity, taught that some Jews and most Christians were stupid and hated gays and were violent, and told that homosexuals were much more creative and artistic because they were not repressed and were naturally more feeling.
It may not be the norm, but I witnessed two young gay men making out while I was standing in line behind them, waiting to pay for my purchase at a flea market in a pretty small town in Ohio. It was in the last few months. It was so disgusting. I would have felt the same way if it had been a heterosexual couple going at it like that in public, but these two seemed determined to make others around them feel uncomfortable. I’m pretty sure they were hoping to get a response from somebody. They almost got one from me, but I turned away.
Never mind...Jesus!
apparently it was her, also, on some show.... ugh
It’s one of the prime reasons that I gave up on all modern television fare. The non-stop depravity and perversions being inserted into everything. Each time I’d turn on the television, it was like descending into a noxious sewer, and I just finally got tired of the putrid stink. The homo glorification being some of the worst of it.
I still watch a good bit of television, but it’s almost entirely vintage fare, courtesy of dvd’s. Items from before the time American culture became so sick and degenerate.
Your warning was that you decided to watch a show from Hollywood that (evidentally) you knew nothing about and then were surprised by the content.
There's a very simple solution. Ditch the TV/cable. If you want to watch something, download a classic or rent a classic movie on DVD. By watching whatever crap Hollywood serves up, you are their property and you are turning over your kids to them as well. The best solution is to go for a walk, play some family games and go to bed.
Do you really think endless liberalism / socialism is good to watch? Heterosexual sex? Violence? Please just cut the cord.
Longmire is one of the few series I watch-it is not cancelled-it will return for a 3d season this summer.
I speak Spanish as a 2nd language, and watch two novelas on Telemundo a couple of evenings a week-I like the way they portray homosexuals-they never devote more than one short scene now and then that refers to their sexuality, and it is made very clear that these people are not “normal”-the lesbians are always portrayed as being neurotic, or vicious man haters, involved with mafia/drug cartels or some other criminal enterprise.
The males are either limp wristed drama queens that no other character wants to be connected with and everyone makes fun of, or they are mean, woman hating putos who blackmail lovers and are involved with drug cartels/human trafficking. Latino society may be a bit on the macho side, but their TV series don’t have all that PC crap, either...
Sarah Jones, the cutie from Alcatraz, appeared the following season on a show called Vegas. It was a pretty good period piece about an incorruptible sheriff taking on the mob, but it only lasted a season.
I thought Longmire was gone but picked up by Netflix. I love Longmire...great show, great characters
I read that it was renewed for a third season-there are 8 books at this time in the series it is based on-not like there is not plenty of material there-I’ve only read the first 3...
Redemption is available for all.
