CBS sports commentator Greg Anthony, a former NBA player, was arrested Friday and charged with soliciting a prostitute during an undercover sting operation, D.C. police said.
Anthony, 47, a father of four, was arrested in a room at the Doubletree Hotel on Rhode Island Avenue NW, not far from the White House, about 5:46 p.m., according to Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.
Others were also arrested in the investigation, Carew added, but he did not say how many people were detained.
A police report said that Anthony used a computer as part of the alleged solicitation.
Anthony apologized in a statement he released Saturday.
I made a mistake, he said, according to the Associated Press. With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry.
Anthony rose to prominence as an athlete as a point guard at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, helping the team win a national championship in 1990. He later played in the NBA for 12 years for the New York Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers and teams in Vancouver, Seattle, Milwaukee and Chicago.

MSM commentator solicited prostitutes.
A married man of four. What on earth was he thinking?
This will short-list him for professional honors.
Can’t these sports idiots get any on their own?
Just shows a lack of professionalism. That is, the wealthy know that you always have to subcontract procurement, of all kinds. Be it prostitutes, drugs, or other illicit things, they never do it themselves, they always have some underling do it.
Maybe his marriage is on the rocks. Maybe his wife puts all of her time into the kids and not the marriage. It happens. Doesn’t make visiting a prostitute right, but it does happen.
Darn....a Republican.
Wall-to-wall CNN coverage for the next two weeks.
To paraphrase Martin Sheen from Apocalypse Now:
Arresting people for prostitution in Washington, D.C. is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indianapolis 500.
Marv Albert?
Well, to his credit, that's a big improvement over DC's Mayor-for-Life after *he* got caught...
Gives new meaning to the hoopster commentator’s remarks that “he took a charge while going to the hole.”
“This will short-list him for professional honors.”
He needs to declare his political candidacy and start lining up campaign donors.
I will probably be creamed for this, but some men are actually starved for sensual or sexual affection of any kind. Some women actually will not even touch their husbands... And in the old tried and true way, they look for it wherever they can get it. In any case I like the...
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
“So and so, a Republican...”
(As if political affiliation would have been mentioned if he were a Democrat.)
Yes sex is often used as a weapon.
LOL! Same thing I was thinking. I think Albert and this bottom-feeder are just the tip of the iceberg.
Most “Sportscasters” are probably serial casual adulterers.
I believe the thinking is: a prostitute is a cash deal over and done.
A girl on the side might get your rabbit boiled.
CBS suspends basketball analyst Greg Anthony indefinitely after he's arrested in prostitution sting
He must have thought that”Slick Willie”was still in residence? Why would a member of The MSM “Solicit Prostitutes”?All they have to do is”Solicit” a Colleague!!!
A sporting woman.
Black Republicans are marked.
