Here's how it should have been carried out the day (hour?) after he was found guilty:
Citizen X.

Truth is I do not like lethal injection for execution....and execution should be just that... and execution.. the whole “Medical like, putting people to sleep” to make it seem “clean and orderly” is dangerous in my opinion that takes away what an execution of is and should be, a punishment . It doesn’t have to be painful but an execution is just that....and execution
I belive in execution as a legitimate punishment the ultimate punishment but I also believe it has to be kept in that context it is a punishment don’t try make it neet and clean like it was euthanasia

A bullet to the back of the head would be pretty painless.

Makes a hell of an argument for giving him the paralytic first. There’s humor in that.

He was obviously coached by his lawyer to complain of pain. His words are like talking points to make the case that he was suffering - as Sotomayer wrote in her Supreme Court opinion, that "no one should be subjected to an execution that causes searing, unnecessary pain before death".
He claimed it felt like acid in his veins when they gave him a sedative! His lawyer is an anti-death penalty activist and the guy agreed to continue to perform as he shuffled off the stage because it was his one last chance to pose as the victim of an unfair system.
Imagine - the guy who raped and murdered an infant wants to go down as the victim! This ploy is not catching on. Maybe baby-raper was the wrong sub-category for murderer to select. Live and learn, liberals, a few lines still remain.
