2014 Continues Long-Term Global Warming
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center ^ | January 16, 2015 | NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

The year 2014 now ranks as the warmest on record since 1880, according to an analysis by NASA scientists.

This video shows a time series of five-year global temperature averages, mapped from 1880 to 2014, as estimated by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York.

While scientists expect temperatures to fluctuate from year to year, the average temperature of the planet as a whole has warmed by about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degrees Celsius) since 1880. This trend is largely driven by increasing human emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

The GISS analysis incorporates temperature measurements from 6,300 weather stations around the world, ship- and buoy-based ocean temperature readings and data from Antarctic research stations. These measurements are plugged into an algorithm that then estimates average global temperature. The computer code for this process is freely available for download from the GISS web site.

Wow it really does feel 0.01 degrees warmer.

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/01/16/does-the-uptick-in-global-surface-temperatures-in-2014-help-the-growing-difference-between-climate-models-and-reality/

From the article above:

CLOSING

As illustrated and discussed, while global surface temperatures rose slightly in 2014, the minor uptick did little to overcome the growing difference between observed global surface temperature and the projections of global surface warming by the climate models used by the IPCC.

Nice pix. Bare feet in the snow? I would last two minutes, max. OK, 0.01 degrees warmer than 2010 with no mention of the uncertainty. This is not science, it’s a religion.

So NASA is ignoring satellite data. If you take the space out of NASA, you get NAA.

With average temperature in the Arctic at -34C, I don’t see how even the most extreme nut-case model of an increase in 4C is going to have any ice melting at -30C.

But I do see longer growing seasons for food world-wide. Places that are ALREADY hot will be a little hotter. Being able to grow more food world-wide and feed more people means the Georgia Guidestones target population maximum of 500M is just that further away.

So that’s why climate change Nazis have taken this on as their religion/cult.

Ted’s first order of business is to find the saboteurs in NASA who are propagating this lie and rip them from the organization by their roots. Deny them funding, promotions pay raises and bonuses. Rip it all out. Stamp it out.

NASA is a proven liar. We’ve been to this rodeo with these clowns before.

AMEN! I believe the aggregated data collected in the satellite era. Lots of calibration and global coverage.

HOW can anyone with a straight face compare that to surface-only temperatures taken with calibrated? uncalibrated? mercury thermometers in a scattered patchwork around the earth? And we are still only within a degree or so of those measurements!

I wonder what would happen if we took our current measurements from only those same 1880 locations and did the analysis. I wonder how it would all turn out.

Between high school and college, I took 6 years of chemistry. When doing labs, I was never allowed to mix significant digits! But they have no problem declaring a win over a 0.01 degree difference.

Makes me want to pound my head.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Hasn’t Joe Bastardi completely negated this with several pieces of actual data?

when one continuously adjusts the historical temperature record to be increasingly colder, then of course the new, current temperatures will be “warmer”. These guys are frauds, not scientists.
