allahu akhbar (our god is greater) is more of a victory cry.

insha'allah (as god wills) would be more appropriate in your scenario.

I believe in that case they would have possibly said “Inshallah” which I think means “It’s God’s will.”

But I could be wrong.

Agree. What if, in this case, it was their equivalent of “oh my God, oh my God”

Need to team the recording up with the flight data recorder to know for sure.
