... It was the most striking feat of the ISISs new tactic, which is to go for the top commanders of enemy forces in order to throw them into disarray and undermine their morale.
Norouzi was the second Iranian general fighting in Iraq to succumb to this tactic.

Dempsey is one of the worst Joint Chiefs we’ve ever had. Absolute moron.
but but he serves his dog eating master well.........
555 “officers?” Officers and men perhaps, but I doubt if all 555 men (if true figure) were officers.
It’s worked very well for Israel.
That 555 number is from Oct 2014. In 4 months that’s how many Iranian “officers” ISIS has taken out.
Well if it is true, and I’m not saying the number is correct, it was a lot. Nevertheless, it also shows that Iranian ground tactics do not seem to alter, no matter the threat level. This propensity has been noted by others.
I’m more concerned about the US mil officers and civilian leaders falling prey to this tactic, particularity in light of Dempsey’s comments.
I think it’s a signal they are going to be targeting officers.
Israel uses that tactic against terrorist organizations. The Iranians fighting Isis are elite military personnel. If a commander is killed someone else will move up. Since wars tend to begin with older men and desk jockeys in command positions the practice of targeting commanders might actually be a bad idea for Isis.
If the stated intent - to spread confusion and disarray - is true, why limit it to just mil officers? Taking out a mayor of a major US city would certainly do that, as would the same to a governor, Senator, or Representative - all of whom have nowhere near the level of force protection as the hapless Iranians.
Between CAIR and the MB operatives in and around the US government, potential ISIS moles are very likely - that is how they get the info to conduct the operations, if you read the article.
Yes. I know the time frame and purported figures of “officers” KIA. However, I do not believe it to be “555 officers.” Oft times, things get lost in translation. While it is possible that Iran has lost 555 men in Iraq, I doubt they were all “officers.”
Top leadership eliminated means promotion opportunities for the rest. True in any war.
Meanwhile, muzzies killing muzzies isn’t all bad, is it?
Obama is an ISIS mole, as are his parasitic underlings.
Obama is an ISIS mole, as are his parasitic underlings.
ISIS killing 500+ Iranians... Iranians killing who-knows-how-many ISIS terrorists. I think I feel a tear forming in the corner of my eye.
Oh, wait, it was just a loose eyelash.
Interesting
Who say the Iranians were “trained”? Most of the better ISIS guys are Iraqi ex-Republican Guards from Saddam’s army and know how the Iranians operate.
This is not good news the last thing that we need is Isis attacking Iran not because Iran does not deserve it they do but think of what they have been up to the last couple of years and what could happen if it gets in the wrong hands.
