Let's go back a couple of years, to 1968-69. That was when we moved from Dayton to Phoenix. Ma and us kids (5 of us) drove out to Arizona on what was then a nearly complete Interstate Highway system.
I remember the Oklahoma Turnpike and one rest area (Vinita, OK) in particular. It had a MacDonald's in an elevated walkway that let you get from either side to the MacDonald's! Pretty cool at the time.

I’m sure the McDonald’s is still there. We travel from the Texas border to OKC on the H E Bailey Turnpike and those rest stops come in very handy!
I just wish they’d make the roadways smoother. It’s like they have never resurfaced them!...even as there is construction all the time for one thing or the other.
However, they ARE better than most of the other roads in OK. LOL!
