Former Holyoke (MA) police chief says President Obama created era of mistrust in race relations

I have been putting off writing this op-ed piece for the past several months hoping in vain that our President and Attorney Eric Holder would become real leaders and not continue down the racist road they have been traveling. However the most recent police murders in New York City have prompted me to break my silence. I did not vote for President Obama when he first ran nor did I vote for him in 2012. When he was first elected I hoped that as a person of color he would move race relations forward and become a good, if not great, president. Needless to say I was wrong as the undeniable evidence soon began to mount. I am a person of color and a retired member of the law enforcement community. I took notice of his inaction towards the violence within his home city of Chicago and what I believe to be his stealth contempt of law enforcement.

I remember the busing chaos in Boston in 1968. There was less racial animosity then than there is now. At that time, most people blamed the courts for moving things along in a way that destroyed neighborhoods.

Now you've got thugs out of control, outside agitators looking for a major confrontation, and people in positions of authority either allowing it or afraid to stand up to thuggery. Add to that, there's no belief that things will get better for black racists who are being enabled by the silence of most other blacks.

Three cheers to this former police chief for speaking out.

Add stealth contempt of the law to that and it would be perfect. This is an excellent commentary, and the police chief is absolutely right on every county.

What else could one expect from a fool that makes up his own laws, changes existing laws and decides what existing laws he wants to follow.

A fool that instead of being president of the entire country, chooses to pit one race or one class against another.

He’s the most divisive, incompetent and immature president in modern history.

While Obama has taken advantage and pushed the envelope. The only way ‘race relations’ have been considered good is by white acquiescing and kowtowing.

Let us take away all the racial BS to include the Black Caucus, affirmative action, disparate impact etc and see where race relations really falls?

President Obama and Attorney General Holder have not once spoken out about the problems within the black community and neighborhoods in Chicago let alone other black neighborhoods through the country. But when a police officer shoots a black criminal in one of these neighborhoods the President, Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the mainstream media and others are outraged. Attorney General Holder sees the police as a nail and brings out his federal hammer. Members of the community protest, burn and loot local businesses. However, just the opposite occurs when a law enforcement officer loses his/her life. There is no looting, burning or nationwide protest, just a dead cop. As a retired law enforcement officer of 45 years of service, who has listened and heard the words spoken by President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, Mayor William de Blasio, the right Reverend Al Sharpton and Reverend Jesse Jackson, I can only conclude that their rhetoric is directly related to the deaths of NYPD’s Officer Wenjian Liu and Officer Rafael Ramos.

The honest - the real - and worthy conversation about race is starting... finally.

Exactly.
Here's hoping Chief Scott gets some national media exposure!

“hoping in vain that our President and Attorney Eric Holder would become real leaders”...........

Your hopes are on a lost cause, neither is a “real leader” of anything.
