People of Free Republic. I would like your critique of the following statement:
To say that "I am a Muslim but I am not a member of Al Qaeda or ISIS." is virtually identical to saying that "Sure, I'm a member of the Nazi party but I'm not a member of the Waffen SS or the Einsatzgruppen."
very well put indeed.
islam is islam
the other names its tagged with dont change the core issues
Except for when there is a “good Nazi”: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rabe
No matter what you do for or to a muslim, at the end of the day, you are still the infidel (or Jew) and the muslim will still hate you. There are no moderate muslims.
Other than simply trying to confuse the simple and direct clarity of this thread, do you have an example of a "good Muslim"? If not, what was your point? If so, who is it and, again, what is your point?
A "good" Nazi. Who would have thought? I was not aware of this. Thank you for making me aware of it.
i don’t get it. nazis were good. dey told me soo in pubic skool.
I do not doubt that there have been "good" Muslims in History, and I believe there are probably "good" Muslims in existence today. This does not change the fact that their ideology is Poison to the human species, and that we cannot afford to tolerate it.
If you look at world wide massacres in History, you find that the only movement which has murdered more people than the Communists is Islam.
It often goes dormant for awhile, but it always comes back with murderous hatred and destruction.
There's a simple answer to this question. It involved the murder of several hundred of our citizens at Pearl Harbor. Think Dresden.
“do you have an example of a “good Muslim”?”
Technically, the analogy would require a “good ISIS” member, not a “good Muslim”. Keep up. Now, if I had to pick a “good Muslim” I would select Noor Inayat Khan, Behic Erkin, et al.:
Good ISIS member? I can’t see how that is possible given the origins of the movement.
“If not, what was your point?”
That, if a Nazi compare favorably to ISIS members, it makes no sense to make the equivalence.
“Nazi and muslim”
Nazi and Jewish:

I’m going to read that book.
Well since you are confusing independent actions of rare individuals that may be found anywhere, with the stated beliefs and agendas of entire religio-political movements, your point is irrelevant to the comparison made by the OP.
Keep up.
I have met people in foreign countries that were Muslims but were not observant. The women didn’t wear scarves, didn’t go to the Mosque, etc.
Just as there are many, many Jews in the NYC area that are “cultural Jews” but don’t keep the Torah or attend synagogue. They are in fact “Jewish atheists”. Most of them voted for Hillary.
And there are many “Christians” that have morphed their practices and beliefs into something that would be completely bewildering to Jesus, mostly in order to attract more congregational members.
So I would say it is possible to be a “moderate Muslim” but only because they don’t faithfully follow the teachings and leanings of Islam, much like the above-mentioned Jews and Christians.
The bigger problem is, with several billion of them worldwide, if only 1 percent were true Muslims, who don’t ever separate their religion and politics, and they truly pursue Jihad as written, then we have a major disaster that is unlikely to be resolved without generations of suffering and bloodshed.
Update: I’m sure that there are some “Not Evil” people that think that its a good idea to eat sand.
