A day after winning his third term as Speaker, John Boehner (R-Ohio) said his conference had begun a "family conversation" about how to respond to the 25 conservatives who revolted and voted against him on the floor.
Boehner confirmed that the Rules Committee agreed hours after the Tuesday vote to boot two of the defectors off the committee: Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.), who challenged Boehner for Speaker, and Rep. Richard Nugent (R-Fla.), who voted for his fellow Florida Republican.
But the Speaker said no final decisions had been made, suggesting Webster and Nugent could rejoin the committee, even as some rank-and-file members complained bitterly about leaderships retribution in a closed-door GOP conference meeting on Wednesday.
We had a situation yesterday where we had to constitute the Rules Committee because of some of the activities on the floor. Two of our members weren't put back on the committee immediately, Boehner told reporters.
We're going to have a family conversation
about bringing our team together, he continued. And I expect those conversations for the next couple of days will continue and we'll come to a decision about how we go forward.

But you will only get to vote on those bills that John lets come to the floor, right?
Nope, but he makes an excellent tyrannical ruler.
Odd that we are supposed to the hate tyranny of Obama, Reid and love it in Boehner.
Changing party affiliation to deny the GOP majority status is the only way to deal with the GOP tyranny, but it will never happen. If enough members changed their party to deny Boehner the majority, they could all just go to Bimini and drink Mint Juleps until they came to them hat in hand, ala Adam Clayton Powell.
Changed to Independent yesterday after being a Republican for 55 years.
By the time 2016 rolls around the Republicans will be so hated by the left because they want to control the money and power and by the beloved independents for their fiscal sellouts and by the conservatives for their overall sellouts. The only supporters left will be liberals still in the GOP and their remaining conservative apologist still toiling on the never ending promises of change by their slave masters. Short of another Great Depression hitting the GOP is headed for an ass kicking in 2016 of Biblical proportions.
Retribution doesn’t equal good sportsmanship.
So what it boils down to is that he didn’t like the leadership, but he supported him because of procedural considerations?
Thats just another excuse for cowardice.
“And he just created 25 new Democrats.”
Now wouldn’t that be something. Or they simply quit the party and became an independent or third party minority caucus.
Those 25 aren’t even leftist enough for the GOP and you think they’d join the Democrats?
They would create their own caucus. The Sparta Caucus!
Nothing like unifying the party - the dog attacks its tail ...
I’m ashamed to say that my Congressman...Jeb Hensarling...showed his true colors and voted for the crybaby. We found out about a lot of the so called conservatives and what they do when their vote really counts. As usual Hensarling talked a conservative game until the vote really counted. He’s no better than the rest of the establishment traitors.....remember Eric Cantor...miracles do happen!!!
don’t you just feel so united to a party that hates us so much?
I went Independent several years ago.
Not a dime's worth of difference, and the enemy is the same one in both cases.
They’ll get you next time Johnny
Olson is also my Congresscritter. This letter is a pathetic attempt at backing and filling, using the same reasons put forward by Mulvaney from S.C. The excuse is just as bogus as it was before: In the November caucus, Boehner had not rammed CRomnibus down our throats and hamstrung the incoming Congress before it could assume power, and funded Amnesty and Obamacare. Hence, this latest vote was a vote to repudiate those actions and punish Boehner for stabbing all Republicans (and America) in the back.
Be sure to attend Mr. Olson’s Town Hall meetings, and chew his ass for this. I will.
Start a House Conservatives Caucus.
“That is what I would do. Start a conservative caucus and cause as much mischief and hell raising to promote conservatism as possible. Inflict as much pain on both parties and show their stupidity at every turn.
What is the downside of a conservative caucus coming out and pointing out the duplicity and screwing the Uniparty is giving the people.”
Here, here!
Last month, House Republicans met to decide who our candidate for Speaker would be. That was the time for those who wanted to provide a different choice to speak up. The position of Speaker of the House is third in line for the presidency. Anyone wishing to serve in this role should, at a minimum, provide a clear vision of how they intend to run the House, promote conservative solutions to strengthen this great nation, and personally talk to us about why they could better manage the role of Speaker of the House. None of the candidates who ran at the eleventh hour spoke with me about their candidacy or made any argument for how they would do a better job.
The sure wouldn’t need much space for their meetings this year.
