Likely foreshadowing the attacks to come, the influential Club for Growth warned Monday that it will make sure that voters are aware of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabees poor record on taxes and spending if he runs for president.
As Mike Huckabee weighs the pros and cons of a second presidential candidacy, he should know that the Club for Growth PAC will make sure that Republican primary voters thoroughly examine his exceptionally poor record of raising taxes and spending as governor, David McIntosh, Club for Growth president, said in a press release. In a year in which GOP voters appear likely to have several good pro-economic growth candidates to choose from, Mike Huckabees big government record would stand out from the crowd, and not in a good way.
Mr. Huckabee left his lucrative gig at Fox News over the weekend to explore the possibility of running for the 2016 GOP nomination.
The 59-year-old former Baptist minister placed second in 2008 to Arizona Sen. John McCain and would enter the race with a loyal following from born-again and evangelical Christians.
In an exclusive interview Sunday with The Washington Times, Mr. Huckabee said he wants to raise upwards of $50 million by early February before he decides whether to jump into the race.

What a bunch of inside the beltway conventional bullsh-t!! Huck only finished second because he stayed in the race til the end. He never had a chance, proving once again that Iowa doesn't normally matter. And much of his loyal following are onto his slipperiness now.....
Huck is entering at the behest of the RepublicanEs to pull off the money and support from Cruz.
He was told to leave Fox, screw up conservatives, and then he can have his cushy job back.
That sounds about right.
That may be true - but the point of the article is the conventional wisdom blindness inside Washington.
Huckabee certainly has a populist folksy approach to politics which sucks people in unfortunately.
It is what it is.......
You got that right. He will be well taken care of by the Chamber of Fascism and the Rove liberals. He is on a suicide mission to take out Cruz.
If he makes his $50 million goal then that's proof positive that you're right.
He really should have kept with his tv show or run for Senator in Arkansas. I can pretty much guarantee he will never be President. For one thing he has held office in almost a decade. He probably doesn’t even know how government works anymore.
I’m no fan of Huck, but the Club for Growth supported Pat Toomey, who voiced support for Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination and championed the repeal of DADT. They’re not exactly conservatives.
While Gohmert attempts to unseat Boehner as Speaker, Gomer thinks about another run for President ....
no more dopes from Hope.
I cannot keep a rhythm in clapping hands, yet even I can play a bass guitar.
Toomey had been head of Club for Growth, IIRC, so supporting his Senate run was to be expected. Pat left the Club, in more than one way, but his apostasy wasn’t clear when he was initially running for Senate. The Club has certainly been more reliably conservative than NRC, NRCC and NRSC and has been willing to help primary RINOs. It’s not perfect, but it’s not been RINO central either.
"According to a study by the Associated Press, Huckabee issued more than twice as many pardons and commutations in his 10 years in office than his three predecessors did in the previous 17 years. "
Some of those released prisoners were rapists and murderers who went on to rape and kill again, one of which was Maurice Clemmons who went on to kill four cops soon after release by Huckabee.
If Huckabee is the nominee, I will not vote.
I cannot stand his tv show.
His son tortured and killed a dog.
He granted clemency to a career criminal who then shot and killed 4 police officers not far from where I live.. Huckabee has a long history of pardoning criminals.
On his show, he supported the parents of a brain dead girl - Jahi ( cannot remember the last name) to keep her alive on a ventilator. This was not a Terry Schiavo case, this girl had no brain function on her EEG. Yet, Huckabee wanted her kept alive on the ventilator. I emailed him, asking him what his definition of death was, since he supported keeping brain dead people alive on ventilators. He never answered back.
Huckabee is a joke, and so is his family.
I suggest people read about Maurice Clemmons, one career criminal of many that Huckabee released. Clemmons was a real sicko, who raped 11 and 12 year old girls among other severe crimes. Huckabee got him released because Clemmons said he was from a Christian family. Clemmons went on to execute four cops working on their laptops. Huckabee had a record of misguided sympathy towards hardened criminals.
That’s gonna leave a mark.
Conservatives have to coalesce around someone generally conservative on all fronts.
Huckabee is not that man.
It was unethical for Huck to stay in the 2008 race and play spoiler for Romney and ensure the McCain nomination.
It was motivated by his anti-Mormon bias.
You don’t have to be pro-Romney to hate the tactic and the motive.
Why?
Huckabee is all for amnesty, like the Club for Growth.
