More Proof That Congress Is a Criminal Enterprise Operation
Investment Watchdog ^ | 1/4/2015 | David Hodges

It is not a news flash that Congress is corrupt. Their 9% approval rating is symbolic of how this criminal enterprise body is perceived by the American people. Can you actually believe that Representative John Boehner admits that bribery of members of Congress is standard operational procedure. Further, Boehner admits that this is a long-standing practice.

“When the House minority leader was questioned about taking bribes from tobacco lobbyists in June of 1995 in exchange for taxpayer subsidies, and then redistributing them to other congressional members on the House floor, Boehner said, “They [the lobbyists] asked me to give out a half dozen checks, quickly, before we got to the end of the month — and I complied. And I did it on the House floor, which I regret, and should not have done. It’s not a violation of the House rules, but it’s a practice that’s gone on here for a long time that we’re trying to stop and I know that I’ll never do it again.”

(See Boehner Video At Link)

Corruption in any form should be an automatic disqualifier to hold political office. Please don’t tell me that I am being idealistic. If we are willing to accept criminality, at any level, then we get the government that we deserve.

kroft_pelosi_640x480Boehner’s revelation goes hand in hand in hand with Nancy Pelosi’s admission to 60 minutes that Congressional insider training is standard operational practice for her fellow members of Congress.

I lost faith in the sanctity of the electoral process some time ago. However, we could still vote out every member of Congress. After all, voter fraud courtesy of the electronic voting machines, can only shift an election by a maximum of 5%. Also for states that have a recall provision in their State Constitution could be recalling all elected officials. This action may not reverse the course of history, but it would sure feel good to send some of these thugs packing!

The traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.

He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.

If the reporting of more graft and corruption in Congress were allowed to surface, a majority of Americans would unite with drastic consequences.

When the House minority leader was questioned about taking bribes from tobacco lobbyists in June of 1995 in exchange for taxpayer subsidies, and then redistributing them to other congressional members on the House floor

I strongly suspect this is an inaccurate description.

In all likelihood these were "campaign contributions" and entirely legal. In theory there was no quid pro quo.

Now whether and to what extent campaign contributions should be regulated is an entirely different question. Maybe the checks Boehner was handing out should be made illegal.

But it's fair to note that liberals are in general in favor of "getting money out of politics" and conservatives resistant. And that as long as such contributions are legal, those who do not accept them will be greatly outgunned on the campaign battlefield by those who do.

RICO should be invoked in the endemic corruption rife in D. C.

Our founding Fathers meant for congress to be like jury duty. Serve two years then go back home. They have made it a very cushy job. Once in all they do is campaign for the next two years. Lobby $$$ flow like water to the,
The Senate was supposed to be appointed by each State and represent the States. That is why each State gets 2 no mater how small. The house to represent the people the senate to represent the states.
Now thanks to an amendment the senate is also elected.
$$$$ have corrupted all 535 of them. Term limits is the only hope but will never get passed as they will NOT vote against their phony baloney jobs.
They keep passing laws that don't apply to them.
Just an example, Social Security would get fixed super fast if they had to be in the system

How can that not be against House rules, let alone the broader law? Do they live by absolutely no standard at all?

“Our founding Fathers meant for congress to be like jury duty. Serve two years then go back home.”

This was the case until FDR got in. Then, as more power accumulated to the government it became too lucrative to leave. After FDR the number of terms served takes a sharp upward trend. Some of the men elected when FDR was president served into their 90’s, like Claude Pepper and Strom Thurmond, to name just two. The only real way to return to the original intent is to return to a limited government without much power or money.

Do they live by absolutely no standard at all?

Like reading bills after they're passed, Congress is an entity, like the parasitic president, that makes its own rules, but doesn't[ transcribe them for posterity to pore over.

Literally a den of thieves and a lifetime career.

Except for a very few like Cruz and Lee, Congress is comprised of elected professional extortionists.Thats why their approval rating os so low, they have nothing to do with the People or what the People want.

Heck, that was figured out long ago:

There is no distinctly American criminal class - except Congress.

There is some adage about not repeating history which is appropriate here....Rome fell when the corruption became so rampant.

Absolutely! It never ceases to amaze me that Congress can be held in such low esteem (rightfully so) and yet we keep reelecting them. Is it because we want these liars, thieves and perverts out of our communities? After all, left free to roam the streets they would be raping old ladies and stealing their SS checks.

They are qualified for little else.

“Rome fell when the corruption became so rampant.”

And more specifically, when the people found they could vote money for themselves from the treasury...welfare.

19 and a half years ago? Glad we're on top of this story. Tobacco? No worries, Cuba will be our tobacco supplier soon enough.
