This week, Members elected to the 114th Congress will rise, place their left hand on the Bible, raise their right hand and state,
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
This oath does not say, I will support and defend the United States Our oath is a specific requirement to swear, I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States President Obama has repeatedly plunged our nation into a constitutional crisis. No past president has so cavalierly violated his own oath and through naked political calculation, willfully violated the Constitution. When a president does violence to our Constitution, those who also take an oath to our Constitution have an absolute duty to defend it. We need a Speaker of the House who carries in his bones the conviction of our oath.
At each crisis point of conflict between President Obama and Congress, we have been admonished by our Speaker to take the high road, to pick our battles, to wait for a better time to fight on better ground. As a product of hook, crook, and legislative shenanigan, ObamaCare was passed. The American voters elected 87 Freshmen Republicans to the House of Representatives, every one pledged to repeal ObamaCare.

I hear that a lot, too. Something about any republican is better than a democrat.
We can do this, but you cant sit on your hands!
And then theres a stampede to the polls to elect ‘winners’ who then go to DC and cave to JOnbon before Barry even gets to veto.
Then cry and cry. Then talk all patriotic about how we have to stop this.
They could have decapped this mess 2 months ago. They DEMANDED we reelect Jon and Mitch because they couldnt find the guts to lose 20 paltry seats at the top of the problem to two freshman powerless Dems.
And they empowered the problem and want someone else to fix it.
Edit. 2 paltry seats.
If we wanted someone who would ‘work with’ democrats we would have voted for a democrat. That didn’t happen. We want Conservatives ... people who will fight stupid plans democrats keep putting out.
Time for a conservatives...
Yep. A third party should have been started in 2008. What’s the worse that could have happened? Democrats in charge of congress? Oh, wait, they already were. And after that democrat lights in charge. After the voters gave the republicans the majority in 2010 and then got slapped in the face, we should have left them.
Personally, I will never vote for another republican. As far as I’m concerned they’re either for me or against me. If they work with my enemy, they are my enemy.
Not surprised, but still excellent news!
Hoping our newly elected Congressman, David Young of the 3rd District, takes King’s lead!
Many of us tried telling people. We gave them facts. We showed them charts. We showed them the very words of the founders.
They all knew better. No matter what. It was lesser evil.
I have seen exactly 2 admit putright they were wrong and one retracted that under pressure from the Romneybots the first time he was asked about it. Well look at their lesser evil. Pretty lesser huh? Amnesty pushed by the GOP. Obamacare funded by the GOP. Tranny military. Priests tossed from service. Businesses shuttered over cakes for homos. Boy thats lesser.
OH I KNOW!!! Lets put it all on those same lesser evils to vote Jon ut so we can avoid responsibility!
Yes I hope they do. But WE should have.
Just a heads up ... Please note, we are talking about Steve King, of Iowa, not Peter King.
Seeing some confusion on that ~
If half of the Republicans vote for Boehner for Speaker, half of the Republicans vote for an alternative Speaker, and all of the Democrats vote for Pelosi for Speaker, will Pelosi be elected Speaker with a plurality?
No. Has to be a majority. But she would be no worse.
No. In the example described, Boehner would get 123 votes, Republican candidate X another 123 votes and Pelosi 188 votes. She would have a plurality, of course, but to be elected Speaker, a candidate must have a majority of the votes cast (not including abstentions).
Pete King is as big of a liberal as a RINO as most Dems are. Someone needs to primary his ass. Get him the hell out of there.
OH NO!!!!!! We cant do that!!!! Best to have ANY Republican. Even one as lib as Hillary because that R is all important!! Thats what we had screamed out at us for 3 elections running now.
you must be an America hating purist to blaspheme like that against the Blessed RINOs.
And it has got to sting. 30 years from now I hope and can look back and say, “I really thought it would come crashing down back then.”
Has Barbara Comstock made a statement regarding her plans, anyone know?
This is momentum.
Who’s going in?
These wimps need to get someone up to the plate as replacement
Last week!
Only 200 to go. This happens over and over again. A lot of noise when Nancy was up too.
His name is Steve King, not Stephan King.
Amen to that. Politicians don't like standing alone for some odd reason.
Leadership Fail.
