Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) issued a statement on Saturday detailing why hes going to vote against House Speaker John Boehners re-election on Tuesday.
Massie, whos entering his second term as a member from Kentucky, now becomes the second Republican House member announcing the coming rebellion against Boehner.
Massie joins Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) in the fight for fresh leadership, and in his statement he detailed how Boehner and his leadership actually have misled members of the House GOP conference.
For years I watched Washington from afar and suspected that something was broken. Why is it that so many people approve of their congressman, yet they consistently disapprove of Congress? During my first two years as a congressman I discovered a significant source of the dysfunction, Massie said, before detailing several bad things that he watched the House Leadership do.
The list Massie reported focused mostly on Boehners work on the so-called CRomnibus $1.1 trillion spending bill.
Massie said that Boehner schedule[d] a fiscal crisis in a lame duck session on the last legislative day before Christmas to get maximum leverage over rank and file members and then worked to mislead members into thinking that a vote on an unpopular bill was postponed, only to then conduct a rushed voice vote on the $10 billion unfunded spending measure with fewer than a dozen members present.
Boehner also made sure to give members less than 72 hours to read bills over 1,000 pages long, and, Massie said, has proven he will remove members from committees simply because they voted for the principles upon which they campaigned.

On mark levin’s show last week Mcclintock(ca) called in to say Boehner was a Conservative...what the heck is he smoking? At least Gingrich fought to reduce the size of govt while boehner does nothing!
You can pretty much predict a guy’s tendencies by his background.
Boner was a fairly successful sales guy for an automotive parts manufacturer and a country club type. That was in an era when entertaining customers was a big part of the job.
He’s a get along by going along personality.
As I expected.
Boehner is a liberal Democrat of the sort you find in Pelosi or Reid.
Boehner is in Obama’s back pocket or it is even possible that Boehner has his head so far up Obama’s backside that he is navel gazing out of barack’s belly button. they golf together so just maybe Obama gave boehner a golf club for a spine and two golf balls in a sack, so at least Boehner would not be considered ball less and without a spine.
No matter WHAT you "think" is true may not be true..
THIS vote will determine the playing field..
NO one knows what Boehner is up to (and has been up to) MORE than the sitting members of the House.. all of them..
THIS vote is a coming out of the closet vote..
And there is complete secrecy on all sides..
DUmp that traitor Boner!!!
They should all threaten to vote for Pelosi. Nah, that wouldn’t do any good ‘cause Boner would be happy with Pelosi taking his place.
Boehner is a disgrace.
If GOP congressmen vote him back in, then either they are not GOP or I’m not.
A lot of conservative folks here have left GOP over the years and I’m moving toward the exit too.
My family history is GOP, it never occurred to me to be anything else. I cut my teeth, from the time I was in short pants, on conservative political philosophy. I’ve been waiting a long time for GOP to fight for the ideals they supposedly believe in. Its sad, really. And a little bit embarrassing.
He wouldn’t even have to resign as far as I’m concerned. But he does need to stand on the floor and call everyone of them out as traitors with no principles. And then call boner a lying, orange faced, bawling embarrassment to congress. In fact, call hime John “Bawling” Boner.
Doesnt mean squat if he goes back to work with them later that day does it? More theater to no end.
If this picks up steam...maybe
Expect Aisles/Fox....to start attacking these folks as extremists
I think it would take 29 GOP nays to stop Crying John
They fear loss of goodies...its a nice hammer for Speaker
You end up with a closet office and your district suffers
If you try to depose the King you better succeed
Lesson told since Moby was a minnow
And there is complete secrecy on all sides..
Are you saying “the Vote” is just a head nod, finger wave, hip bump?..
Something like that?..
THAT theres really no actual VOTE?..
but an eyebrow raise, an eye glance, mouth tick, shrugg, finger to the nose.. shiver, grunt or cough?..
I’d pay good money to see that...
We both know it’ll take at least 29 votes. There are a few members of the House of Kabuki who will vote on principle. Precious few. The vote will be carefully choreographed and “close” for the sake of theatrics. But that’s all it is: theatrics.
As I don’t want to be part of a self-fulfilling prophecy, I’ve gone ahead and contacted my Kabuki Rep., but I don’t believe we’ll need to spend much time concerning ourselves about who the end result.
They must tread very carefully. If they lose, it will cost them a lot. And they must not only hit the magical number of 30 that vote against Boehner, they must be very ready for some conservative to stand up, because the GOP-e likely has a replacement planned for Boehner if he loses. Someone just as bad or worse.
People elected this crew. Thats the only thing that matters. They had a chance to decap the snake and they screamed bloody morder that we just HAD to send Bhoner and Mitch back ‘no matter what’.
I feel zero pity for anyone that took part in that and hope they get everything those two have in store for them.
So far no one has had the guts to say they will be a candidate against Boehnor. Until that happens, none of this matters.
It’s all a show.
