Back on December 22nd, FTVLive told you about Sinclair owned WBBF's story that was misleadingly edited to make it sound like protesters were calling on people to kill a cop. At this rally in Washington, D.C. participants chanted, We wont stop, we cant stop, so kill a cop, WBFFs Melinda Roeder said during her report. It was pointed out that wasn't what the protestors were saying and the clip was wildly taken out of context. The station apologized for the story, but now sources tell FTVLive that firings have happened at the station as fallout from the story. Sources tell FTVLive that both the Reporter and the Photographer that did the story have been let go. Insiders say that the story idea came directly from News Director Mike Tomko. "It was found by him, assigned by him and ultimately proofed by him," says a station insider to FTVLive. Insiders tell FTVLive that Tomko did get a 1 day suspension and a Producer who texted the Tomko that night saying he was uncomfortable with the story got suspended 2 days. So, it appears that the ND got a slap on the wrist while others we penalized much more harshly. Word is that WBFF GM Bill Fanshawe held a newsroom meeting to explain discipline handed out. Sources say that when one Photographer asked a question, the GM refused to answer it. Instead, he offered to schedule a private meeting with the Photog.
How do you edit a clip from that to that!?
It would sound so butchered that it would never have gotten past the head producer before it got to air.
Wow, a journalist held accountable? If only that standard applied to all of them...
Because other people were also taping the protest.
This is what I found.

Good to see that actions can have consequences. If every dishonest reporter/producer were fired there would be a lot of dead air on tv. Thankfully.
Instead of lecturing people you may want to simply point them to where a supposedly unedited version of the tape is.
The news director and producer got a 1 and 2 day suspension for a news story that was false. The should be held legally accountable for their false reporting, when they knew that they were manipulating the story to create a false image.
Hands IP is different than Hands UP.

How do you edit someone saying “till killers” to sound like “ so kill”?..”so” and “till” sound nothing alike
I listened to the so-called original tape. I don’t hear the protestors chanting the “cell block” comment. There’s not enough syllables to match the alleged longer phrase. My hearing is bad, but not that bad. It is not beneath the lying, lunatic, liberal, left to fake a fake, and then say “Faux” News is the one who edited a tape.
My poor abused ears can’t tell what they’re screeching. I wonder how many of them really were saying “kill a cop.”
Freepers, please don’t be like the stupid left wing morons; this has nothing to do with FOX News or right-wing media.
To my ear, it sounds like they are indeed saying "so kill a cop" instead of "until killer cops".
But then the last phrase doesn't make sense.
Somebody posted a link in post 24. See my response to it in post 33.
I’ve listened to the long version of this video, which has since been deleted, and after 3 or 4 chants, the “until killer cops” line absolutely does morph into “so kill a cop”. I first saw this story on daily kos and they had the long version along side the fox story version. The long version has been deleted. This lying crowd doesn’t want you to hear it.
Slowly the media is coming under increasing scrutiny. Given its obvious bias this scrutiny is good and may it increase. People should examine who owns, manages and controls the individual media entities. The actual people and their antecedents, education and all other social variables.
I believe they were promoted...
I turned up the volume,so killer cop on cell block is what I heard.
Sure sounds like it.
And they fired two people because of it.
Wow.
Scary time to be an honest reporter...a policeman...a freedom loving US citizen.
Yes, I know honest reporters a rare. And this is an example of why they are rare.
