Back in the day when I was that age, some mother or father in that store would have beat my a$$ and then returned me to my parents who would have thanked that person and beat my a$$ again. That’s probably why we didn’t do stuff like that - aside from the fact I wasn’t mentally deranged.
If I had done that I would not be here to tell about it........................
That's what I'm thinking but nowadays people are so afraid to intervene, they'll be he ones in jail. I looked at the person who finally intervened (bystander or parent?) he didn't hurt the little sh@t at all but if he wasn't the parent he might be the one in trouble.
Our world has gone insane.
Spare the rod, spoil the child. My kids would never have thought to do anything like that. I've been known to give little brats "the look" and if they continued into the next aisle will tell them what for. Been lucky, knock on wood, their parents haven't jumped my case... yet.
Same here, 1950s.
Unfortunately, those days are gone forever. In most jurisdictions now, the parents would sue, and the cops jail, and Child Services confiscate the kids of anyone who would even raise their voice, let alone hand, to such a brat. The kid would be sent to therapy to treat the trauma to his psyche such an "outrageous" thwarting of his expressive rights would engender.
