NEW YORK (AP) The police killings of unarmed blacks in Ferguson, Missouri, and elsewhere and the investigations and tumultuous protests they inspired was the top news story of 2014, according to The Associated Press' annual poll of U.S. editors and news directors.
In a year crowded with dramatic and often wrenching news developments around the world, the No. 2 story was the devastating outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, followed by the conflict in Iraq and Syria fueled by the brutal actions of Islamic State militants.
Among the 85 voters casting ballots, first-place votes were spread among 15 different stories. The Ferguson entry received 22 first-place votes, Ebola 11 and the Islamic State story 12.

Gee, imagine that.
I guess they missed this one:
Yeah, they missed a lot; but that’s why they are the Ememedia..
Thanks, Mikey. Great pic.
How about Black crime on Blacks and/or Black crime on Whites. It took Obama being elected President for me to really question Black mentality in America.
100x death’s in Chitcago and yet not a peep from the American Pravda ...
Blacks killing blacks should be the major concern in the
country today!
You said...
“Remember that this was a poll of news reporters and editors of what they classify as important.”
Right you are.
But the title is misleading. It implies a poll of Americans
“...according to The Associated Press’ annual poll of U.S. editors and news directors.
I thought I would try to cheer you up. There is more of America left than you think. Editors and news directors don’t really represent America, who are all like peas in a pod. The smallest TV market in the country is run by the same mindset as the New York Times.
oh, who, to is to blame?
Time, but when they come running back ... Time is on my Side ...
Like I am surprised
I know most of who they are.
They go quiet when facts like cops are killed but then wait a day or two and then they come back on posting about a cop shooting a dog bla bla.
They know they are not conservatives or right minded, we now that too. We all know that the trolls who have been blasting police on here for two months will carry on making themselves look fools.
Those trolls belong on DU or KOS and we all know that but again just wait for the usual dog shooting posts coming soon if not already.
Thanks for that, I will be using that stat.
Yep....... If indeed lies from presstitutes, pandering punks and polidiots prevail as top stories then professional journalism is dead.
Turned off my TV in 2008 so had to download the grand jury testimony on the ferguson punk..... all 4799 pages of the PDF to see he wasn’t murdered.
Top story was a work of fiction stirred to inflame idiots IMHO.
My opinion....
I think it died a while ago, unfortunately. Damn it!
It's probably too early to get stats on 2014.
44% of people killed by police (1980-2012) were white.

And the data in the above (and often cited) 'research' is admittedly flawed (the researchers were trying to make the case that black people are 21 times more likely to be killed).

the Ferguson story of the unarmed man is the top story of 2014 only problem the title is wrong it should read “a thug who just robbed a store assault the store owner and the disobeyed a police officer the assaulted a police officer attempted to take his gun and even after being shot continued to come at the officer and WAS RIGHTFULLY SHOT’ that how it should read ...the whole hands up protest is a lie NEVER HAPPENED
Why not?
We got a fake President and now we have fake stories about fake civil right issues.
