Jeb Bush left the Florida governors office in January of 2007, after eight years of service. Three months later, he joined the board of a hospital company that had been pillaging government health programs and abusing patients, in Florida and around the country, for most of the years he sat in the governors office.
Apart from a very generous compensation package, why did Bush sign on with such a tarnished company? And will whatever explanation he now offers hold up under the microscope of a presidential campaign?
Tenet Healthcare Corp. is a national for-profit hospital company with a sordid history. In the middle 1990s, operating under a previous name, the company pled guilty to seven federal felonies, paid a record fine for health care fraud and kickbacks, and was placed under special government scrutiny for five years (in what is called a Corporate Integrity Agreement). That deal was arranged by Eric Holder, then U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, and by Charles Ruff, representing the company and later to become President Bill Clintons White House counsel.
As soon as that five-year review ended, the same company, now operating as Tenet Healthcare, launched a program to increase profits by gouging Medicare. It took a while for everyone to catch on to the new schemes, but starting in 2002 and running on into 2007, the company faced allegations of fraud, Medicare false claims, patient abuse, overcharging federal health care programs, kickback violations, falsely inflating hospital charges, unnecessary heart operations, unnecessary patient deaths, and SEC violations. Again, the company bought its way out of these charges, paying around $1.7 billion to settle government investigations, government lawsuits, and private lawsuits. And the government signed Tenet up for another five years of special scrutiny, another Corporate Integrity Agreement.
Bush was a catch for Tenet.....

"..........................Reid had a plan from the start. Once Republican leaders in the House were done colluding with President Obama and the Democrats to pass the cromnibus spending bill the one that forfeits Congresss power to block funding for Obamacare and other noxious Obama initiatives for the next year Reid would team up with GOP Senate leaders equally anxious to get the cromnibus enacted. The majority leader, however, would keep in his back pocket the tax-extenders legislation a grab-bag of Washington special-interest tax breaks knowing Beltway Republicans, like Democrats, would want to make sure their sponsors were taken care of. By holding the tax extenders until the very end, Reid could rest assured that senators looking to flee the capital for the holidays would make no trouble while Democrats used the new no-filibuster procedure to blow through the stack of Obama nominees.
The fact of the matter is: The Cruz/Lee point of order on the unconstitutionality of Obamas amnesty had nothing to do with getting Obamas nominees confirmed. There was nothing Reid did in moving the nominations forward last weekend that he could not and would not have done to achieve the same objective starting Monday nothing other than giving his GOP partners in the amnesty project a few strands to weave into a yarn blaming Cruz and Lee for confirming Obamas nominees, a useful distraction of public attention from the Republican capitulation to Obamas lawlessness.
If Republicans were serious about stopping the presidents nominees and his systematic non-enforcement of the immigration laws, there would be an easy way to show it. A month ago, Senator Cruz called on Senator McConnell to announce that the Senate will not confirm Obamas nominees unless and until the president ends this lawless amnesty. The soon-to-be majority leaders response? Crickets.
If, as they claimed, Beltway Republicans really wanted to stop Reids rubber-stamping of Obama nominees this week, McConnell could have dramatically one-upped Cruzs proposal. He could have publicly warned that if the majority leader steamrolled the minority this way, Democrats should expect to get nothing for the next two years no nominees and none of the accommodations the majority typically accords the minority in the many uncontroversial matters lawmakers deal with. You negotiate by exploiting your leverage, not by relying on the good graces of Harry Reid. Republicans, instead, accommodate Democrats, saving their hardball tactics for use against conservatives who try to force fights GOP leaders have no interest in waging."
by the time the media is done investigating the liberal republicans presidential wannabes they will be considered toxic!!!
” As alleged in the lawsuit, a company in Georgia (Hispanic Medical Management Inc., Clinica) recruited pregnant undocumented Hispanic women to the companys prenatal clinics, using the well-advertised slogan we care about your health, not your immigration status.
He was toast before. Now he’s burnt toast.
Where are the hit pieces on Obamacare?
IIRC, the rats got wiped out last month for blind obedience to Obama, including his fascist Obamacare.
...and Charles Ruff is dead.
Eric Holder, what a surprise. Was his investigation as ‘good’ as it was in Ferguson and into voter intimidation in Ohio?
Ripping off Medicare is as American as apple pie.
Jeb just identifies with the average American crook.
There, a little help.
Of course they kept at it. That’s what happens when you are allowed to just give the government its cut by paying a fine instead of going to prison where you belong.
Never forget Teri Schiavo. Jeb’s not ethically qualified to be President.
Exactly right-- and why he will never get my vote.
Ever.
Never forget Teri Schiavo. Jebs not ethically qualified to be President.
BTTT!
But the facts are very distorted or wrong in this hit piece.
With Katrina, Tenet evacuated its hospital and the neighboring State Charity facility .
Those patient were at a separately owned and operated facility which Tenet rented space to.
It was a Vent Care facility for patients who are on a vent and in most cases brain dead but the family won't pull the plug.
The Vent care facility was instructed to evacuate but ignored or dismissed any help by Tenet or other local hospitals.
I know all about that sad situation. As for the phony labor scam that was the lovely labor unions creating a phony crisis.
Idd how the writer kept these facts from the trashing of Tenet. I get sick of reading phony distorted crap like this being allowed to be published by American Thinker.
Where are the Editors to stop this crap from being published.
The problem a Jebbie The Nutt campaign poses to the voter is one of identification.
When Jebbie steps in the sh*t, how can a voter determine where Jebbie stops and the pile begins?
Jeb Bush is corrupt. Bribes and more bribes to those that support obamacare plus he has some money offshore.
